As many of you will remember, last fall we held a Town Hall Meeting where everyone could come and ask questions and discuss the results and progress we'd made after the 2011 Admin Meeting. This time we're going to do it again though a bit sooner due to the fact that we are now going to have two admin meetings per year, so each Town Hall meeting will occur 3 months after. The first of these for 2012 will be held next month on July 15 at 2pm Mountain Time.

The meeting will be held in IRC in #oldewarderandhen and will follow the same guidelines we established last fall. During that particular time in order to keep things as streamlined and orderly as possible, executives and officers as well as our moderator for the day will be the only ones who can actually speak in the channel. If you have any questions or comments to bring to the table, you can either email/pm them to the moderator in advance (the mod hasn't been fully decided yet, but I'll edit this post with their name once it's all sorted!) or you can PM them in IRC during the meeting so that they can ask the question in the channel itself for you. You can see how this worked last year here: http://library.tarvalon.net/index.php?t ... ll_Meeting . Once the question is asked in channel, the officers and directors will answer with perhaps a few follow on comments/questions before moving to the next topic. The meeting will last as long as people are actively participating!

Important Notes:
- This is not a free-for-all forum. We are limiting our agenda to announcements coming from the Admin Meeting this year. As a refresher, I've made the discussion forum from admin read-only from now until the meeting.
- We are not promising you that any outcomes will be determined by this event or by some sort of popular opinion of the Town Hall participants.

Time Converter if you need to figure out your local time when we're doing this: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

I look forward to seeing as many of you there as can make it! If you have any questions please let us know, and I'll let y'all know once we have a moderator selected for this year :D

*edit to add* Zashara Da'sainne has agreed to moderate for us! She can be contacted via PM or email her at zashara@tarvalon.net :D

Here's some info on getting into IRC that i'm blatantly copying from what Jeffan wrote last year. Thank you sir!

For those of you that are able to attend the chat event:
First, you're going to have to be able to join chat! For those unfamiliar with IRC, we have a pretty standard applet on our site that accesses our main room, #wheel, and from there, you can get to any channel that you'd like. We're going to be holding the Town Hall meeting in #oldewarderandhen, which is the chat room that we use if we have anything very specific to discuss that wouldn't belong in #wheel. Per the post in introductions, here's information on chat:

Loraella Melodie said:
Click here to join #Wheel through Java Applet.

Click here for the IRC guidelines. (Be sure to read this before joining the Tower channels.)

Click here for The Dark One's Lair (chat commands).

As I mentioned, we're going to be using #oldewarderandhen for the Town Hall meeting. To join that channel from #wheel (where you'll be directed after you put in your name and hit "Connect"), all you have to do is type in the following, without quotation marks: "/join #oldewarderandhen"

Now that you're in chat, here's how the basic format is going to work. To reduce confusion and to make it easier to provide a clear transcript of the event, we're going to mute the channel. What this means is that those without operator (@ symbol next to their name if you're using a private client, or a gold star if you're connecting from our chat applet) status won't be able to talk directly into the channel. As I said, this is to reduce confusion and to make it easier for a transcript to be copy/pasted into the library for everyone to see, so don't get offended that we're denying you your ability to speak! As a note, this only affects the one channel, #oldewarderandhen, so if you want to talk in #wheel while you're doing this, you'll definitely be able to.

To submit questions that you'd like asked, you're going to PM the moderator in chat. This is pretty much always done by double clicking on a nick in the sidebar, but otherwise you can type in the following, again, sans quotation marks: "/query nameofmod" - and a new window/tab will pop up where you can type in your question. If you're not sure exactly how to phrase your question, the moderator will be more than happy to work with you on consolidating your question as much as possible for the Officers and Execs to answer.

For those that won't be able to attend:
Well, this is a lot easier for you guys! All you have to do is PM or email your question to the moderator in advance. They will bring the questions to the meeting with them, and then we'll do our best to get it asked and answered for you. *ETA* Zashara Da'sainne has agreed to be our moderator, and can be contacted via PM or email at zashara@tarvalon.net :D

If you're not sure whether or not you can attend:
PM or e-mail your question in advance to the moderator anyways! If you show up to the chat event, it's not too hard to remove your question from the list. This way, you'll be sure that your question can be asked and answered whether you're there or not.

Also, a note! If more than one person asks a similar question, They will be consolidated them into one. Again, this is to reduce clutter on the transcript, and it'll save us all some time.

The linky is great but it wants a city for me to convert from. What's a main US city that uses mountain time?

I just checked this to see what the time is in MST (but with Daylight Savings) and then used that to help me figure it out

http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-z ... tain-time/

It is showing me that MST is Mon 1:52am and then I just looked on the first link to find cities at that time - Denver is one that popped up??

Thanks Mhor and Laralelle for clarifying for me.

For other people so they don't have to search, MDT is GMT-6. (I'm assuming you guys have daylight savings there? not everyone does.)

We do have daylight savings - though I guess it should be MST right now since it's summer :embarassed: It's light at 5am and gets dark around 9pm :P

Nah, we're in MDT right now.. (daylight time).. ST (standard time) is through the winter.. ;)
Though it's funny, because daylight savings is longer in time length than standard time.. *shrug*

I have ZERO questions so far.

I know there are quite a few members who have expressed concerns with some of policies that have been recently implemented. We had an extensive, but by no means exhaustive, discussion in the Admin metting notes forum, so I believe that there may still be some questions.

I specifically know that the issue of transparency has come up. The Amyrlin and Keeper are making an effort to embody the principle of transparency by holding this Town Hall meeting. However, it won't work if they don't know what items to address.

Please send in any and all questions. No concern is too trivial/stupid/unimportant to be presented.

Is there going to be a text version of the meeting for those of us who missed it? (dang grocery shopping)
