Does no one else see the humor in the name chosen for our lawyer? :look:

Thank you for the update, Viv Sedai and Hammar. :curtsey

Thanks for not using legal jargon and "telling us how it is" in plain, ordinary English!!!

Lillian. Naturally, we all see it. Perhaps we are less amused by puns. :) The name is well suited, although I have no idea who it is

Thank you, Caerwyn. You are astonishingly cool. I'll reach out by pm.

Puns are the highest form of humor :pleased-1: I also approve of his use of the word "opine." It simply doesn't get used enough, in my opinion :shifty

I agree on the opinion of the word "opine."

Please, don't think me crass. I would never think to belittle or marginalize this situation, but we need a bit of levity around here. It has happened, we cannot change that. We will all deal with it in our own way.

But, really, nothing has died. Not us, not our community, and not our spirit. The wound has been made. The healing process must now move forward. I just prefer to heal with laughter.

I don't know how the legal stuff works, but I'm hoping we can have some of the financial stuff disclosed when it is sorted, without any case related stuff getting out. Something simple like x amount at x date for y accounts, then went to z.

Because those figures would be evidence in any legal action, the odds of those figures being released any time soon (meaning possibly a year or more) is unlikely. That is the board's decision but I wanted to set expectations appropriately.

Thank you so much Hammar for your statement. As a member of my school's School board and finance committee, I have taken a few trainings on internal controls. Please feel free to contact me for any information.

Thank you for the honesty. Realistic expectations are worlds better than being sold short.

Thank you for the legal update.

I was going to post my request regarding legal prosecution on the announcement thread but as it is not regarding my opinion of the person or my feelings regarding him, I will put the request here.

I personally am employed, well retired from employment, from a position that required security clearance. I had access to more money than the site ever would have and I even through hard times never would have thought to steal any amount of money from work and honestly if I had done so it would have been easy to do, and easy to have spent before any red flag would have gone up and I was caught (yes I would definitely have been caught) working for the IRS I wasn't just in a position of seeing tax returns, I was in a position that can tempt for theft easily, it happens, every year I was hearing how another person was caught and how. I personally feel that this theft needs to be prosecuted. I am not sure about my legal rights as a member if the board does not act in a manner I am happy with, but if prosecution does not happen, this doesn't go on his record anywhere. Background checks won't show this.. I honestly don't think he should not have this someplace. A police record needs to be filed even if the Board does not decide to press charges on behalf of the site.

This action is a serious and grave action. And while yes we consider ourselves family and close friends, and many feel that this is what he stole from, he stole a great amount of money that he was in trusted to handle for us. I personally feel that with at least a police report, or something this would show on any background report and allows employers and other creditors the right to make choices based on full disclosure of his past actions.

I as a member of this site request prosecution, but if not at least a police report regarding the theft and the statement that prosecution from the site was not requested. I know laws in many states might say if a police report is filed it is up to the DA to decide to prosecute or not, but at that point that is up to the state the report is filed in. I feel that even if the site doesn't pursue legal action in regards to this, the report needs to be filed and let the state decide upon lawful prosecution on the state's behalf.
