Regardless of the relative issues, would it be possible for the discussion to be moved to another forum and the initial post left with a link to the new discussion thread?

Some people subscribe to Site Announcements in order to be more quickly alerted when there is new content here, and unfortunately, due to such a full-tilt debate taking place in the announcement thread, they are being pinged over and over again with alerts all for this same thread. To those who are not as passionately interested in the present debate, it can become irritating, causing them to have to turn off their subscription to SA solely to avoid being spammed with alerts.

FYI, we've been told to stop the discussion. Per the post made by the Amyrlin, The board is reviewing this decision at the moment. There are many things I would like to say in reply, but we've been asked to stop and so I'm not going to say them. If those of us who were having these irritating and not-level discussions can control ourselves, then I don't understand why the rest of y'all can't either.

As the Amyrlin has asked this to stop in this forum and some people cannot restrain themselves, I am locking this thread and it will not be reopened. Those of you who still wish to express concern or support in regards to the Board's decision can follow the directions earlier in this thread to make your voice heard.
