Welcome! We have people from all over and around you! And don't worry about not being able to quote exact chapters for scenes from books, that isn't me either

Hello, Iria! Welcome to Tar Valon. It is very good to have you here.

Unlike many people here, I started reading fairly late; like Theolyn Sedai, I am also from Serbia, but I did not bother with the translations just yet - I just took to the original English versions immediately. If I am interested in a translation of something, I just ask Theo Sedai. :giggle

The reason is quite simple: when the books were translated in Finnish, they made each of them into 2 or 3 individual books. So I might say "In book 24 there was this scene...". >.< I'm planning to buy the English ones to overcome this annoying confusion.

It's the same in Germany which can be quite confusing.
But as I was too curious about the later books I started buying the english ones at one point. So now I have a weird mix of German and English WoT Books...

Oh and welcome :D

Corinne: I'm finding this forum really an adventure, too, and it is taking all my time to read through all the interesting topics! And quite a few times I've had this 'mind blown' feeling, when reading about some connection in the books that I didn't notice myself. :D It's difficult to name a favorite bird, but i'll have to say hummingbirds, since there's no other bird that would compare to them.

I have two cockatiels, Siera Sedai, and two king quails. Birds really are adorable pets, but you are right, they don't go well with cats, at least not in a same room. But I do know a few bird hobbyists here, who also have cats (living in other room than the birds, of course). :)

I realized that I also forgot to tell about my favorite characters in the books. This is a bit tricky question as well. I think I liked very few of them as a person, since they all had annoying features in their personality (Actually, that's a good thing, making them human!). However, there are very few who I really disliked. I guess Nynaeve was my favorite when reading first time, and probably she still is the one I would most want to meet in real life. But if 'liking a character' is understood as 'liking the scenes of that character', my favorites were Egwene, Nynaeve, Aviendha, Siuan and later also Mat (and people related to him), which *really* surprised me, as I had quite disliked him in the beginning.

Hi and welcome! There are at least two other Finns on TV, Taika and Rijomu, so you have some company. :)

My mom raised cockatiels when I was growing up, they're really lovely birds with wonderful personalities! I would love to have pets but don't have time to properly care for any, but I would someday like to get a cockatiel again.

Lovely name, how did you think it up?

Thank you so much, Shaerlyn Sedai! I put quite a lot thought to the name-thing. My first name is actually technically just one letter away from my real name, and the last name consists of some letters of my real last name mixed up and spiced with some additional letters, to make it sound similar to names in Randland. And so nice to hear there are also other bird lovers here! :)

Welcome, Iria!

And I can barely place events in individual books either, and I read the American version
