It is with deep regret that I announce Arisaema's retirement from the position of Chief Financial Officer for TarValon.Net. She has been a steady support, exceptional resource, and valued counsel. It's been a long process since we really started putting our back into incorporating, and she has made a big difference. I hope you will join me in thanking her for her years of service. :snuggle
"Real life", as it seems to do on occassion, has pulled Ari away to those things that more urgently need her attention. And so we found ourselves contemplating the need to replace our CFO. As replacing the CFO before we turn in final paperwork will be easier than trying to change that paperwork after the fact, we've moved forward on this issue in order to be timely.
We did not expect to have to replace a board member at this point in time. I think we all expected a more solid replacement policy to be in place before we'd have to. We don't have it yet. But, we did (thankfully) put in a "hit by a bus" procedure (what you do if you have to replace a position before you're ready). The solution, to either vote out a member or to vote in a replacement, is currently a simple majority vote. This is a stop gap measure while we're still establishing our company as something more than a sole propriatorship. With a team of three, there is no chance of a tie. With only two voting, we have to 100% agree. Dralyn and I not only agreed, but Arisaema also agreed.
We have asked Riley Gaidin of Dai M'Hael to serve as the CFO and third member of the board. We feel that he is an incredibly qualified candidate, and that he also will serve well as a counter to Dralyn and myself when considering world views and approaches to problem solving.
Riley is coming up on his 10th year of membership. He is one of our longest standing members, and his membership has been active and continious. He is one of our longest serving members of the Hall, logging in almost 3 years there. He was our first Mayor, and he has served as Captain of the Guard. He has been a local liaison for a Fall Ball, he has been a mentor, and he has served as Camp Nurse on every occassion where we have needed him. Frankly, I don't think I'd be overstating things if I said he has saved a couple of lives, and at the very least saved those lives from permenant damage. He takes up the unwanted chores because they must be done. He is a quiet man, a supportive man, and he is someone who loves friends and family. I think anyone who has met him will understand my sentiment. I hope those who have not met him yet get the chance to do so very soon.
I trust Riley to serve as a reliable and consistant CFO. I believe Riley fundamentally understands what we stand for, and knows where we're going. I think he embodies the spirit of service. I think that, we're I hit by a bus, he would work his butt off to find the right Amyrlin. :P
Please join me in welcoming Riley.
