Tar Valon Times UPDATE
If you haven't noticed by now, the Tar Valon Times forum has now disappeared. The staff were starting to feel that it was becoming difficult to write surprise articles for the Times and keeping everything fresh. The forum has been a little late in this move as it was scheduled to happen after the Spring Admin meeting. What this means is that those that wanted to participate that were not officially part of the TVT Staff can no longer participate. There is a solution for this! A thread will be made in a more public forum that myself and our Editor, Taelinn, will be moderating. Where this will be is still yet undetermined but will be announced properly for anyone that wishes.

The Tar Valon Times is seeking staff!
The Department of Marketing is looking for new reporters to create content for the Tar Valon Times from January 2014 to June 2014. This is an awesome way to dive into life at Tar Valon, and to show the community your own take on things. This is also a great way for Junior Members to complete their contribution to the site. But most importantly, this is a way to tap your inner creativity while supporting the Tar Valon community. So if you enjoy writing and want people to read what you write, apply!
TVT Staff
This is a six-month staff position within the Department of Marketing. In this position you will create content for the Tar Valon Times. This content can come in a variety of formats, such as articles, regular columns, or art, limited only by your own creativity and the rules and regulations of TarValon.Net. As a staff member, you can both take on articles suggested by the TVT Editor and Assistant Editor, and come up with your own ideas. The Tar Valon Times offers a supportive environment in which to develop your own creativity.
Job Specifics
- Actively search for and share ideas that will be interesting and informative for TarValon.Net members. Articles can cover topics from the Wheel of Time, the Tar Valon community, reviews (books, TV shows, games, comics, films), or anything else you wish to write about, as long as it would be interesting to the membership in general. Unconventional ideas are quite welcome!
- Contribute a minimum of 3 pieces of content during the term, or maintain a regular column for the duration.
- Adhere to set deadlines, and communicate with the Editor and/or Assistant Editor if something occurs to prevent publication of your content.
- Communicate regularly with the Editor and Assistant Editor regarding your work, their work, and anything that comes up during the course of your job.
Qualifications
- Anyone of any rank or position may apply; there is no membership time limit.
- Facility with your chosen medium is a must; for example, if you write, you need to be able to do so clearly in English. Creative flair and a joy for writing and/or creating art are definitely awesome additions.
- Experience with writing and/or creating art is a plus but not required.
- Ability to dedicate the necessary time to complete your contributions to the TVT is mandatory.
How to Apply
Send an email to editor@tarvalon.net and marketing@tarvalon.net with the subject set as "APPLICATION - TVT STAFF - YOURNAMEHERE," detailing why you are qualified to be a reporter, with at least one sample of your writing and/or creative endeavors. While not a must, I would also like to invite you to include some possible articles you would like to work on during your term at the TVT. We will be accepting applications through Wednesday, January 15th, 2014.
To note, if you get your application in early chances are we can do a quick round of hiring for January 1st. There will be extra special cookies for those that apply!
Regarding the sample: Any sample which shows a proficient command of the English language in a writing situation or your creative abilities in another medium (like art) may be submitted. This could be an excerpt or a full article/paper, an essay you've written for school, art you have created, or projects you have worked on.
The writing sample may be attached as a .doc, .txt or .pdf file, uploaded online with link provided, or just copied and pasted into your email at the bottom. A graphical sample may be emailed as an attachment, or you may supply a link to where it is hosted online.
If you have any questions, please e-mail Taelinn Dolivras at editor@tarvalon.net or Arie Davion at marketing@tarvalon.net.
