I have been doing a pretty intense re-read, and just started aMoL again last night. After reading through the Tower of Ghenjei scenes, I started thinking about how many similarities there are between Ael/Eelfinn and Myrddraal. There was one scene where one of the Forsaken is discussing how even Aginor wasn't sure how the Myrddraal were able to ride shadows and such, and it got me wondering if somehow during their creation the Myrddraal were somehow linked to or created from the Snakes and Foxes. My evident being:
1. Riding shadows -- when Mat and Crew are in the Tower, the Foxes are described as manipulating the shadows around them to hide themselves and to create fear.
2. Bonding -- Ael/Eelfinn are able to create bonds between themselves and other beings in the form of bargains, which is reminiscent of the way Fades bond Trollocs to themselves (at least to me), in a sort of bargain between the two groups
3. Appearance-- Myrddraal are often described as snaky, serpentine, etc etc
4. Affinity for emotions -- Myrddraal being able to instill fear with an eyeless glance reminds me somewhat of the savoring of emotions that the Ael/Eelfinn are obsessed with.
Anyone agree/disagree?
