My most wonderful friends,
I have now served TarValon.Net in some capacity or another for almost 22 years. That's over half of my entire life! I am not totally leaving service, nor am I officially retired. I'm still here as a resource to TarValon.Net and am glad to serve as such.
It has been more difficult over the last year or so for me to make Board meetings. My parents are in their 80's and we're making the most of the time we have left. I'm married to the love of my life and we have frighteningly intelligent cats who have (among other things) learned how to turn on our oven. So we're learning all about child locks! Thank god they don't have opposable thumbs.
I'm moving into year 10 of running a music school. I've also been hired on as Artistic Director for another 65 year old theatre company. I've founded my own theatre company and we produced our first show. The Stone Soup Theatre Co is the start of what I hope will be the rest of my career. I would never have known how to start such a thing without my experiences with you. And yes... I'm working 75+ hours a week on the low end. This time, dang it, I'll find a way to turn it into my living.
Over the last few months, it became clear that I no longer had the time to meet my responsibilities in a timely fashion. When I saw the amazing amount of quality applicants ready and able to work on the Board, I knew it was time to make room for other leaders. I am thankful and happy to still be available as a non-voting advisor to the Board. I have institutional knowledge and remain a very loud voice when it comes to our original goals as an organization. I am glad that I can still be useful to a community full of people that I whole-heartedly love.
