Merits? When do we update those?

As have many people! Collecting them takes.. a lot of time. Verifying can take even longer. Serenla just hired on and brought on people to make lists. Typically I've seen them given out at Anni and FB (or around those times). Was there a specific reason your asking? (Like that extra bond?) If there was something specific you might have better luck Emailing Serenla (archivist@tarvalon.net) as she is likely to check there far quicker than here.

What Arie said. I was also thinking that if we thought we qualified for more, we email the appropriate person and then let them verify because there are so many to keep track of. This was on my mind because I attended my tenth event a couple years back or so after the first round of merits had come out. I just hadn't gotten around to emailing yet.

Serenla confirms merits, but often you might need to verify through either the Department (email directors!) or your membership admin (HoA/CC).

A bunch of people are confirmed as being due Merits, so will get them when the next set are announced. If you have wiki editing privileges, you can see what merits are due, and how far along you are on others (as long as you don't add to them yourself)

Well, I might just be special, but I tried to be a go-to person for my Ajah while I was Head. If at the very least they should be able to help direct questions.

Am confused by this because I am unfamiliar with the term other than looking on Wikipedia .

I just looked at the library and saw what merits were available and the requirements and then looked under my profile and saw that I qualified for a few more. Not near another bond, but being green I still have a slot open and am not that concerned . I just like seeing them under my profile .

Just another question...can we make these into physical badges and sew them to our shawls or company sashes???? :joy

Also do we have to be at anni to get our merits? Do we have to know what merits we are owed and apply for them?

We don't have to be there. The new Merits will be announced and we (well, really the Merit team, but the Historians and I will keep an eye on things) will put them in over the next couple of weeks.
You don't need to apply, most are being tracked, though some such as hosting local events it is probably best to let the team know as that will not likely be seen otherwise.
If after the announcements, you are still missing some you think you have earned, that is probably the best time, though I'd give it a week or two, as there will probably be lots of emails going round at that time and it could easily be read and then forgotten.

Oh one more question on merits....do having multiple silvers in an area eventually lead to a "gold" or are these separate. Mainly because I qualify for a silver in one area, but if I do more then I can qualify for a gold. So if I get the "silver" for teaching minimum classes, do I then have to start all over and do ten more to get a Gold or do I wait until I have ten and just go for the gold? Thanks

It depends on the category. As of right now, there is no way to get a Gold for teaching classes. More info can be found on the Merits page in our Library.

Erin I read that page in the library before I ever posted this thread . The classes were a bad example and I apologize.

Here is a better one copied from the page

Events Leadership.....Camp Nurse Merit... Serve as Camp Nurse 1 time (silver merit).... Serve as Camp Nurse 3 times (gold merit) Can only earn once

There are several like these. The way I interpreted it, hence the question, is this....if I settle for a silver, then does that mean that I am disqualified from the Gold? Or do I serve as Camp Nurse once and get a Silver and then to earn the Gold, I must then serve three times for it for a total of FOUR times. Or is it cumulative in that I serve it once, I get a silver and then two more times to qualify for the Gold?

This was unclear from the explanation I read in the Library .

It means that the Merit Gold can only be earned once. So you serve once as a Nurse, you qualify for a Silver. You serve 3 times and that silver becomes a Gold. You may serve more times than three, but once you've earned the Gold you can not earn it again.
