Long time no see in this particular forum, y'all!

I've just finished The Fires of Heaven, which may have taken me a whole year at this point; I'm not entirely sure. I was only about halfway through it at Anni, if I recall.

Honestly, I started to have trouble focusing and following certain threads with this book. It seemed like there were a lot of things that happened pretty suddenly - Rand becoming as powerful as he is and Mat leading the Band of the Red Hand in particular. Elayne and Nynaeve's journey with the menagerie grated on me a lot at times with how they were at each other's throats.

The pride (and weaknesses aside from pride) of many characters struck me as being on full display in TFoH, so much so that I wanted to smack certain of them more than usual.

The big moments that made me squint were Mat's declaration that Morgase was dead (how did he learn that and why didn't he question it?) and the moment Moiraine tackled Lanfear through the twisted portal. Rand assumed she was dead, and I suppose anyone might have, given the aftermath, but he knew darn well it was a doorway. Why wouldn't he have reasoned that she might have come out the other side? Of course, he might have decided that if she had come out the other side, it would have been with Lanfear, who probably would have killed her...

I was also shaking my head at how Rand approached going after Rahvin. So many assumptions made, and too many deaths because of how he approached arriving at Caemlyn. It made for a good demonstration of the repercussions of balefire, for sure.

And of course, there is the ever-debatable question of who killed Asmodean that I now know the context of.

Obviously a lot of things will get revealed as I read on, of course. I'm eager to know what's going on with Perrin and am looking forward to seeing what happens with male channelers now that Rand has offered his protection to them all.

Hopefully it won't take me as long to get through Lord of Chaos. I think a lot of why I don't have much more to say is because it did take me so long to get through TFoH that I don't remember much of the earlier chapters!

I remember feeling sideswiped by everything that happens, especially at the end. And the circus/menagerie part was definitely not my favorite arc either

I'm afraid to say that the confusing part with all the different threads will only get worse :look:
But Lord of Chaos does have some of my favourite moments, so I hope you stay with it :D
