It has now been raised that "Team Jordan" may have legal issues with our ajah paying someone to make our shawls (for those who do not sew). That they have copy written the tower shawls and the "flame", aka the lower half of the Tai Chi symbol, and therefore, we will be causing legal issues for the ajah and people in it.
So questions need to be answered please in regards to how we are supposed to proceed:
1. Do we, as Tower members, have the legal right to own, wear and make the shawls for our personal use to include the "flame" on the back?
2. If we do not sew at all, is the only way to get a shawl (if we have legal permission to own and wear one) is to be "gifted" the shawl with no money exchanged for reimbursement of materials and time to sew it?
3. If we do have the right to sew, own and wear an ajah shawl and can reimburse someone for making it (to include their time) what are the parameters within the law that we can do this?
If the person that we wish to sew all the shawls so that they are alike, is NOT making a public claim that they are WOT shawl seamstress, advertising that they sew shawls for WOT site, etc. does this work? As in, she is a professional seamstress that has a website in which she does sew medieval clothing, children's clothing and doll clothing. She will not and does not plan on advertising that she is making tower shawls for anyone or any website. She does need to funnel the money for personal clothing through her Etsy store and it would be classified as "personal clothing" and not advertised.
Calypsa said the site didn't have an issue, but it was raised by Muir and Jen that "Team Jordan" may have legal issues. Please advise.
