Pursuant to this thread, the Board of Directors of TarValon.net is now set to receive applications for the position of Amyrlin Seat/Chief Executive Officer of TarValon.net. Once again we wish to thank @Serinia Edoras for her dedication to the site and its members during a tumultuous and interesting time in our lives.
As a reminder, the basic qualifications are listed below, but your application should address a much broader range of information than just the basic qualifications. Please be advised that the officers (CEO/CMO/COO/CFO/Archivist) will be given access to your application. As these individuals will be working the most with the Amyrlin Seat, they will be given the opportunity to give their opinions on the applicants, but the final decision rests with the Board of Directors, as stated in the Bylaws of the site.
Qualifications
Essential:
These requirements reflect the necessity of knowing our history, why and how it developed, and give us a minimum record of time to view how the applicant has handled membership conflicts, sensitive information, etc.
--Active member for 5 years
--At least 3 of those years as Senior Member, though not necessarily consecutive
--At least 1 year in the Department of Membership; OR Administrator or higher in another department
--Be a member in good standing of at least 21 years of age
Nonessential, but nice:
--Active participation in any Administrative role
--Active participation in more than one department over their time as a member
--Time served in the Hall
--Ability to attend events with some regularity (the Amyrlin is not required to attend all of them, but some travel is required of this position)
Please note: Gender, nationality, and group affiliation are not factors in choosing the Amyrlin/CEO. Also, as this position has fiscal responsibilities, the person chosen will need to undergo a background check.
Expected Duties of the Amyrlin Seat/CEO:
Please email chairman@tarvalon.net, board@tarvalon.net and amyrlin@tarvalon.net with the subject "APPLICATION - CEO/AMYRLIN SEAT - YOURNAME" by February 5, 2022. Please be thorough in your application. As the Board reviews applications, we may email questions to you, so please use an email address that you check regularly.

Expected Duties of the Amyrlin Seat/CEO:
- Guide TarValon.Net toward our vision as the premier destination for fans of The Wheel of Time from all locations and all sources.
- Work with executives, administrators, staff and community to pursue clear goals and objectives aligned with our Mission Statement and our key experiences, including philanthropy, online community, real life events and experiences, and curating the premier Wheel of Time reference library.
- Strengthen relationships and liaise with the greater Wheel of Time community, including Team Jordan, Team Sanderson, Rafe Judkins, WoT content creators, etc. Stay connected to external partners and build programs that fit with our mission.
- Be the ultimate point of escalation on matters that impact the community. Maintain visibility to relevant situations across all departments in order to be supportive to those specific officers, but also be available should urgency require the direct involvement of the Amyrlin.
- Guide the Tower according to the Bylaws and support the enforcement of the Code of Conduct.
- Management of resources - finances, human resources and time resources. Where do we put in our time/money/efforts? Which projects need to be prioritized as important, and which projects haven’t met our criteria and need to be set aside?
- Provide support to the officers and executive team. Help remove barriers and address issues to allow all volunteers to make a strong impact within a positive environment.
