After hearing my twin sister, Kassina Tendar, talking about this place enough, I figured I should go ahead and join myself! She's the one who got me into Wheel of Time - I'm currently halfway through the 3rd book, but I've had too much work recently so I haven't gotten as much reading done as I'd like :-\
I'm a 2nd year graduate student in a Computer Science MS/PhD program. I do work in data mining/machine learning, and I'm really enjoying it! I'm not enjoying stupid classes that I have to take, but after this semester, those'll mostly be over, which will be soooooo nice!
If you know Kassina, my interests align pretty well with hers - we're very good at getting each other into things. I knit and crochet a lot, more and more from my own patterns. My favorite thing I've made is my knit TARDIS that holds 22 crocheted Doctors and companions (from Doctor Who). I've also crocheted the cast of Firefly and am working on double knitting a scarf with all the lantern corp symbols from Green Lantern. I read comic books (DC mostly), play video games (I loooove my 3DS, and I'm currently addicted to Fire Emblem Awakening), board games, and watch too much TV. I've started teaching myself Japanese, which is really fun, and I've written a (very simple) Android app and am working towards another. I was an organ major (in addition to computer science) during undergrad, and I love playing the piano and organ. I love science fiction and fantasy, both reading and watching and crafting about.
So, yeah, that's a bit about me. I'm excited to be here and to meet everyone on this site! Unless Kassina's been telling me horrible lies for the past few months, it sounds like a great place!
