Waiting to read the books until the series is finished is a task that could test an Ogier's patience.
As for ruining the enjoyment of the series, by reading the books, Hmmm'eeh, Yes there are things they've cut and or added/changed for the series, but if you look at the series as another turning of the Wheel you shouldn't be too disappointed.
(Unless you're a book puritan that is.)

what other books do you like too read

My favorite will always be Treasure Island, but I've really enjoyed a Song of Ice and Fire, The Inheritance Cycle, The Lord of the Rings, House of nights. I guess you can say that I'll ready pretty much anything with a good fantasy setting, I really enjoyed Septimus Heap too. Wow that brings me back to a long time ago.
