My name is Jenisi Nolain and I know I know at least one of you here!
Let's see... as my bio blurb says, I got my start with WoT communities when I stumbled upon NWT, or Netland White Tower, back in 2001. I worked my way up, got in all sorts of shenanigans as an Accepted, used saidar to create an oosquai variant -Bluesquai- as an homage to my Ajah-to-be, and eventually became a Blue Sister... right before a hullabaloo involving site direction and a relaunch. As the dust settled for the relaunch as Silklantern, I became a Sitter of the Blue Ajah.
Eventually, the founders decided to retire Silklantern and those of us who weren't ready to call WoT and our community quits hurriedly launched Portalstones. We became a place for a lot of NWT and SL's refugees, even though we weren't able to link through the old site. (We were told we had to start from scratch like they did, so some of our friends wandered homeless for some time before finding us.) At Portalstones, I was an admin/co-founder and the Blue Ajah's First Selector. I continued to manufacture and sell Bluesquai on the side!!
The co-founder who managed the domain and hosting kind of...disappeared after awhile. None of us were able to reach him through any of the means we could give us and one day the site went down, lost to the aether. Some of us from the site have stayed connected a bit via Facebook, and there was talk of relaunching a new site, but real life and "adulting" took us so far away from being able to avidly roleplay WoT that it just never happened. (Unless they moved on and didn't tell me, which is entirely possible! :P )
I do have lovely remnants from the past, though, including my husband whom I knew from Silklantern but began a writing relationship with on Portalstones. When a Wader pursues a "high-profile Aes Sedai" (his estimation of me, lol!) and it turns out they have a lot of real life stuff in common, it's amazing what can happen. "Aeric" and I married in 2012 and have a lovely little girl who was the best honeymoon souvenir ever to come out of the Great Smoky Mountains! We still write together in various genres, but our WoT writing has slowed down a bit... leaving memories that fade to legend... Legend fades to myth... et cetera, et cetera...
I realize that TarValon.net is not an RPG, and that's fine. I'm just kinda feeling nostalgic for a WoT community! I may just lurk, or who knows, maybe I'll be active and get hooked enough that I want to apply for citizenship. It's just nice to see that the Flame of Tar Valon still burns brightly, so to speak.
