Haven't a clue if something like this already exists, but would love for it to.

I want to be able to sign up to receive email notifications about major things like registration for parties opening up, major site changes, and roll-call. My personal life is ramping up to be pretty busy between my job and my studies. And I'm finding less and less reason to check the boards, as I havent been able to find a new home to connect with among the ajahs. But I still really enjoy the parties and seeing people in person, so I want to still hear about those despite how I see myself not checking the boards much.

Can we please make this happen? :D

This was something brought up in marketing a while ago, so it is on the table. But it is currently not moving forward just yet. :)

Those things are also posted on Twitter and Facebook.

And as such can be easily missed by busy people.

An email would go to an inbox and not disappear with the stream of a newsfeed.

What announcements would you like to see?

These things?

And I'll second Leese's notion, because I don't always get the announcements in my social media feed. They scroll away and get buried. Email can be directed to folders, organized, and archived; it would be useful, if it can be done.

Yeah I try to keep up with site announcements, but I work a full time job while also going to school. Im worried i'll miss the important few things i've listed. But I go through my email every day as its part of my job and I'll see things there that I could otherwise miss. I dont need to see everything that goes up in SA, just the very critical things.

Again, this was something Marketing brought up because there is a need and sometimes the basic social media does get buried. Its a great idea and something that can be perused. Shoot an email to marketing@ and keeper@ (Lir is filling in for now) and see if you can help make it get somewhere.

It's something that's been on my project list for a while and has been in discussions. I'm happy to see that there is a keen interest in it and will pursue it again from a few angles to see how best to implement.

Yeah, social media really is not a reliable means of getting information unless you don't have very many friends, with how rapidly things move on facebook especially.

Even with the amount of time I spend online, just the amount of time away from the computer for sleep can be enough to cause any given thing in my fb feed to get buried almost back to the Paleozoic. :look: I can only imagine what it would be like if I didn't check the boards regularly ... and that's just with a friends list tallying a little below 200. I've heard that's called a "small" fb friends list these days

A quick win for those wanting announcements and such in their e-mail.. is to subscribe to the announcements forum. I do this and I've set mine up to give me a daily digest, which tells me any new threads posted and any existing threads that were updated.

To do this click on the "Forum Tools" drop down on the top right hand side of the desired forum and select "Subscribe to this Forum".

It'll send to whatever e-mail address that you have on file with the forum software but it's better than nothing at the moment.
