Depending on who you fly with, sometimes Prestwick is a cheaper option. It's further away, but there are good transport links to Glasgow, and from there you can get pretty much anywhere
Also, just because I found this when I looked at going to Stavanger this year, Aberdeen airport seems to cater to more of the Scandinavian airlines. Flights from there to Norway were a good £100 (at least) cheaper than from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Aberdeen is about 2 1/2 hours away by train (depending on your route), so wouldn't be a terrible option if you wanted to see some of Scotland's finest scenery on the way down
