I'll put up an entire post in the forum once October hits to explain how the registration process works in much more detail, but for now this is your heads up.

We don't have a separate local liason for this event so I (Viv) will be both your event coordinator as well as onsite contact

About the Area:

Estes Park and the Rocky Mountains are gorgeous!

If you are intending to spend extra days and would like suggestions of great things to visit/see, we have quite a few Colorado members who I'm sure would be more than happy to give information and advice!

Transportation:

  • From the Denver Area (since most will be flying into Denver International Airport (DEN))

Take I-25 North past Longmont, to HWY 66 (Exit #243, for “Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park”)

Take HWY 66 west into the town of Lyons

From Lyons, take HWY 36 west to Estes Park. HWY 36 will take you down the “main drag” through Estes Park called Elkhorn Avenue. HWY 36 will turn left off of Elkhorn Avenue onto Moraine Avenue at the fourth traffic light.

Continue out of town on HWY 36 west.

About 2 miles out of town, you will come to another traffic light, at the intersection of HWY 36, and Mary’s Lake Road. Continue straight through that intersection. Immediately past that intersection, get into the left lane, this will take you off of HWY 36 and onto HWY/Spur 66.

Our entrance is on the right side of the road after 2.5 miles on Spur 66. Look for the large sign that reads: Estes Park Center, YMCA of the Rockies.

I am thrilled to welcome you all back to my state! Don't forget your green for St Pattys day, and get ready for an amazing weekend!

Logistics question - would it make sense to arrive by train? It looks like there's an Amtrak stop in Denver and one in Granby - would either of those be "smart" for arranging to carpool with people, or is the airport a much better bet?

You definitely don't want to go to granby....if you did take the train then Denver is the correct stop and then you'd just have to set up car pooling with other members to get to Estes park itself. My only caution is time since the train typically takes much longer than flying but if you have the time off and someone to pick you up then knock yourself out!

I really want to go, but I'm gonna have to think out my travel plans for next year. I have many weddings out of town to attend.
