The Expanse (James S A Corey) is by far the best sci fi series ive ever read. The TV show was great but the book series is purely amazing.
Ah, very cool! So on the southern edge of Ozark National Forest? I can't wait to try camping there!
Ha! I always refer to it as the "before times". That's so great to find someone from STL! I'd love to get a group together someday and really nerd outWelcome Jesi! :joy
Glad to have you here on the forum - between this and the Discord, I've found it is a great way to chat and geek out about all the things.
Wooo!!! St Louis represent! :yes I just moved back to St Louis about 2 years ago.... before COVID, whenever that started.... I can't remember time anymore.
OH! I've heard such awesome things about James S. A. Corey! I haven't watched the show yet, but I prefer to read the books before watching the adaptation. Have you watched the Expanse show?@Jesi B I would say Stephen King, James Herbert, Lee Childs, John Connelly, James S. A. Corey to name a few.
As much as I can with two young kiddos I grew up in the Ozarks and went hiking and camping a lot with my dad. There are a ton of hiking trails around where I live so I try to get out there as much as I can, and then schedule weekend camping excursions around kids' weekend activities. I prefer tent camping, but my husband doesn't, so we bought a small camper during COVID as a compromise. Do you enjoy hiking/camping?Do you do a lot of hiking/camping?

I shall let Kallarn's comment serve as an answer...
I have watched the show, and am about half way through the books. Hubby is actually ahead of me (which is a miracle as he is not the biggest of readers) but he is listening to them on audio and is really enjoying them.
That is one thing I've never done: hammock camping. And I'd love to try it out! I also want to try out backpacking. Missouri has the Ozark Trail (which is our teeny version of the PCT), and I'd love to be able to hike that before I'm too old and lazy to do so Do you have any favorite places to go in Tennessee? We haven't been there yet for camping and I've heard it's GORGEOUS.Absolutely! Do it whenever I can get away. My son is a little older, so it's easier to get away for an overnight hike/camp every now and then. I usually go with some college buddies and we tend to back country camp with hammocks. At some point I want to take my son with me, but I know my wife will require electricity, lol...so maybe a state park with a lodge, and my son and I can tent camp.

Ah, gotcha. We'll have to make a trip down there someday!Yes, I live on the southern edge of the Ozark national forest. My husband has been hiking along the big trail recently. I don’t have the physical stamina to do it though.
Oh man, that'd be so cool to hike the AT! I watched a documentary bit the other day about a guy who RAN it and broke the record for completing it. More power to him, but DAMN. That's craziness!!We all live in the Clarksville/Nashville area, and spend a lot of time in South Cumberland State Park. There are some amazing places to hike there; whether you want a quick day-hike, or if you prefer to backpack & back country camp. We've hiked all over that place, lol. The Savage Gulf area has loads of trails and several places to camp. Fiery Gizzard is a beautiful trail when there's been enough rain for the waterfalls. We went to southern Missouri for the Garden of the Gods not long ago...gorgeous place to hike. I've yet to get the guys to agree to travel far enough to do different trails (most of them have small kids), but the Ozark Trail sounds fun! I've got a full through hike of the AT on my bucket list...but we'll see, lol.
Thank you Luna! I'm having a blast exploring and finding ways to contribute and just meeting new people....it's not often you find a fabulous group of people like this. I have a tendency to jump into things very quickly so I'm trying to hold myself back from applying for membership too quickly, but just in exploring over the past couple days, I'm fairly certain I want to end up in an Ajah in the White Tower But I know I've got a ways to go and so many more awesome people to meet!Welcome to Tar Valon, Jesi! It is really good to have you here - and from what little I've been able to see so far, you'll fit right in. How are you finding it so far, do you have any questions off the top of your head, or are you happy to keep exploring as is?

One question I did have that I haven't gotten around to finding yet is: Am I able to join the Discord as a citizen? If so, is there a server link somewhere I can use?
