So, I am looking to start a new 5th edition campaign. Specifically, I will be running the "Curse of Strahd" adventure which should take the characters from level 1 to level 10. Games will take place on Sundays starting at 2:00pm CST and going until 6. I expect to meet every other week. I would like between three and six players. Most D&D adventures are scaled for 5 players but I can work around that to a degree. But with more players we have the longer encounters and play tends to bog down.
Some Caveats:
1. Potential players will need access to D&D Beyond and maintain their characters there.
2. Potential players will need access to discord.
3. We will most likely be using theater of the mind style of play.
4. The campaign will start with level 1 characters from the Player's Handbook and Xanthar's Guide to Everything.
5. Players may also use the Haunted One background from the adventure if they wish.
6. "Curse of Strahd" is Gothic Horror and is well creepy. Be prepared for at least the occasional surprise.
7. Campaigns can go on for a long time. Seeing that we are playing every other week it could run for sometime.
8. If you are interested but haven't played a table top RPG before, feel free to reach out and we can talk about how it all works.
Note: I do not plan to use Roll20, primarily because I own all the content already at D&D Beyond and can share it with players who attach their characters to my campaign. It also has online tools that will make things easier. Unfortunately, to get the same effect in Roll d20 I would have to buy all the content for a third time and that is to say the least less efficient.
I'd like our first meeting to be on November 15th. Generally the first session, is about finishing character ties and establishing backgrounds. We can also use that time to help people out with character creation. Its OK for people to miss some of the games. As adults we frequently have problems with scheduling.
But I ask that you try to attend most of them. Those of us who do miss a game, will still get XP for it. I don't want anyone falling behind the power curve just be of a logistical issue. If anyone misses too many games we may have to add an additional person or two, just to make sure that we always have enough for a a full party.
Other than those things, I do not have too many requirements. I'd like to have an all Tower party, but if need be we can flesh things out with members of my normal gaming group. I plan on leaving the initial slots open until Saturday the 7th, at which point I will begin speaking with the usual suspects about filling in vacant seats.
Due to the small number of people who can participate, it will be first come, first server. Please respond to this thread to let everyone know that you would like to play and then send me a PM so we can discuss specifics.
