Hiring: Chat Ops

I am looking for a few good members who love chat to help us moderate our IRC offerings!

Requirements:

• You must be a member of at least 6 months
• You must be someone who frequents chat regularly
• You must possess tact
• You must possess discretion

Responsibilities:

• Moderate the chat rooms and keep them family friendly
• Diffuse any flare-ups that might occur between members
• Enforce chat and Tower policies

Per our Fall 2013 Admin Meeting, there are a couple changes to ops to be aware of as you consider whether to apply:

• Beginning with this hiring, ops will serve for six-month renewable terms. I will be hiring quarterly.
• We are no longer hiring separately for our different chat rooms. All ops will have responsibility for both wheel and wandering woman (unless you're under 18 - and please do still apply even so!).

If you would like to apply, please send an application to moderators@tarvalon.net detailing why you would like to be an op, why you think you would be good at it, and most importantly, what times you can be available as an op IN GMT (and here's a handy converter ). We need folks from across the world to cover all the various time zones our members operate in!

Applications must be received at moderators@tarvalon.net no later than April 15. I will be making hiring decisions immediately thereafter and terms will start as soon as possible after that deadline.

Well, the technical bits can be taught. It's the tact, discretion, and common sense that are sometimes hard to come by.

I'm very good at teaching the advanced bits of IRC. I will be personally training the new ops, through a few classes in IRC, and then one-on-one lessons if anyone has a hard time following the bigger group.

Please don't allow a lack of experience being an op in IRC prevent you from applying
