April is National Child Abuse Prevention/Awareness Month in the USA. The Philanthropy Department felt that a Teddy Bear Drive would be a great way to contribute to children in need and to raise awareness. Here is the USA Department of Health and Human Services website about the topic: http://www.childwelfare.gov/preventing/preventionmonth/
After much research, I have several organizations that collect new and gently used stuffed animals and then distributes them so that they are handed out to children who are going through stressful situations. They collect other items as well, all of which is outlined on their website. We decided on Teddy Bears because what could be more comforting than a Teddy Bear?! Feel free to donate other items as well if you would like
SO! Get your Teddies together, take a picture of yourself with them, and then ship them or deliver them to one of the organizations listed below!! Send your pictures on over to me (memberphilanthropy@tarvalon.net) and we will put the photos together in a collage to celebrate the donations we, as a group, have provided to children in need!
