Is there a cool story, or did it just sound cool?

I'll start:

[Ne-mir-naya] means "Not Peaceful" in Russian (my native tongue). At the time I joined the boards, the name was very fitting - there was little peace in my life and as a person I wasn't going to win any Ms. Congeniality pageants . And being voted "The Scariest Green" by my own Ajah at some point, kind of helps keep the name pretty relevant :look:

Delvar is my married name, as I'm married to Toral Delvar. It was initially Simoa - that one just sounded cool. I miss it :)

what's your story?

Mine's a fairly simple story.

I was a member of Salidar way before I joined TV.net. I was a Blue AS there and my name was Morwenna Raven. I chose Morwenna because I've always liked the name and Raven because I adore ravens. So when I joined here, I thought I'd make it slightly different, so changed it to Morwynna Raevyn. I've since married Doc (Dee ar'Emm,) but I told him I was keeping my original name

Imzadi because I needed a nick when I joined IRC in 1995 :-)eek) and it have stucked with me ever since. How I found that name? I ran into my livingroom, desperate looking for something at my book covers, and found my Star Trek book that I bought in New York, in 1992, while waiting for heading back to Norway after 1 year as exchange student. So I thought "Why not, I love Star Trek and I love the meaning behind it" :pleased-1:

Hopewind because I needed a last name when I joined here and I wanted it to be related to the sea, because of my avvie that is a pirate :D :horsey So my mentor suggested something that ended with this.

Ealandrelle is a sort of WoT version of my oldest Everquest character. Melyma is a twisting around of an Elvish word for "beloved". I've had that character a long time so the name has a lot of meaning to me. It inevitably gets shortened to "Eala" anyway ;)

Hmmm, well Fern is my RL chosen name. It was something that came to be last year at some point. The Al'Thorn is a bit of using my name Thorn from a few different game characters and using the Al' honorific form WoT.

easy peasy. :D

I have a tendency to collect unusual names (seriously, I have lists :look:). Cahalan was the name of a contestant on Jeopardy! one day. I really liked it and added it to the list. It was one of several I considered when I changed my name here. Sothron is a derivation of Southron, from the Haradrim of Middle Earth. Mr. Sothron used it as part of his character at the WoT site where we met. Even though our characters married before we did, I never added it to Maihgread's name. So as a nod to him, and with the foolish hope that one day he'll join here, I chose it as my last name. <3

I used a WoT name generator to get started with my first name, and then either used one of those names or modified it. I think I wanted a Two Rivers-y name, thus the "al'" and then I think I just started adding characters until it sounded good? Honestly, at this point it's pretty hard to remember.

I wrote in a ton of Pern Fanfics back when I joined here, so I knew the baby name sites well.... LOL.

I wanted a letter that wasn't used by many in the Tower, so I started perusing and found Qamra. I loved the name and stuck with it ;) It's Arabic and means Moon. If hubby would have let me, my kiddo would have ended up with this name....

I don't have a very interesting story, but when I decided to join TV.net I took a full two days to consider what I wanted my username to be here (I am famous for not making decisions very quickly; that one was rather a quick one )

Jarl is "earl" in Old Norse and I thought it had a Two Rivers ring to it, though I pronounce it with a hard 'j' rather than "yahrl". I lifted the Two Rivers surname Lewin from the books.

I had come up with the name Ahmyra (ah-MEER-ah) for a short story I wrote when I was a teenager and really liked it.

Sidenote: I was actually adding to the story and needed an old tongue word which is how I found the site....

stole al' from the books and used my then boyfriends last name (we've been married now for a year and 8 months :look: ) So my site last name and RL last name are pretty much the same :pleased-1:

I've been Roheryn online for many many years, long before I joined the Tower. I picked it because Aragorn is my favorite LotR character. In the books his horse is mentioned once or twice and it is named Roheryn. It means "horse of the lady" in Elvish. If you think that's weird, it helps to know that Arwen gave him the horse.

When I needed a last name for this site, I had been using the Wotmud name generator that had been linked above, to try and name characters for a fanfic that never got written. I thought Galghandhrei sounded more like a last name than a first name. So I used it. And I loved it. I didn't want to give it up when Ty and I married, but I also didn't take his last name in RL, I didn't even hyphenate. So I did the WoT version of hyphenating here.

When I was 13 I loved this one song on a cassette my mom loaned me. It was in another language and I don't know the artist or song name, and the cassette is long gone. Sad day. :P Anyway, At one point in the song, the singer says something that SOUNDS like "Ninya" in an exultant tone. It gave me thrills, so that was the name I chose when I needed a character name for the protagonist of the story I was writing. "Evoneigh" I made up- it has no specific meaning.

I used the name for four years of WoT-based forum RP before I found the Tower, so it seemed fitting to use here, as well. :)

Basically I keyboard mashed until something that resembled a name appeared. And then added "al'."
