    What do you think?

I was excited to see them on the clip but I have mixed feelings. I did not picture them looking like this. Their uniforms look very bulky and my husband and I both agreed we imagined them wearing more plate armor.

I agree. They are called White Cloaks because of the white cloak they wear.

These guys look a great deal like 15-16th century clergymen

I actually think the uniforms look extremely cool, and I hate it because I can’t stand the Whitecloaks, lol! Stop letting mean boys have nice things!!!

I love their look. I also imagined a white cloak and a white tabard over plate armor, but that REALLY makes them look like something straight out of the middle ages like a Teutonic Knight. Their new look makes them look like they are a part of a cult and that exposed armor being color coded to rank is a really good idea instead of using a small insignia on their cloak which would get lost on camera.

I actually completely agree with @Dravid ter'Mand (but don't tell him that!).

This is not AT ALL what I thought they would look like, but I have to say that when I saw them on the screen I was like OOOH now THAT'S interesting!

Galad isn't here because he's not a Whitecloak until much later in the series, if they even include his character. He's not been cast yet that we know.

    I actually adore the costumes.

I think this is exactly the look they were going for. To me, this immediately conveys exactly who and what the Children of the Light are about: they're a bunch of puffed-up, self-important, hypocritical, pompous buffoons. They're also primarily a paramilitary religious order, so them having the look of clergy is dead on the money for me.

I apologise for butting in and being slightly off topic - I'm not entirely sure about the spoiler moderation for this place, but... Cahalan spoilered what she said, (for what I personally feel are good reasons), only for it to be revealed two posts down. :look

As far as I'm aware I don't think spoilers need to be tagged here? It's been up to individual discretion.

Fair enough, then, thank you for the insight. ^^ It just struck me as strange to see it spoilered in one post but not in another, so I thought I'd ask.

I wasn't sure, so spoilered it just to be on the safe side. No biggie to me.

The white cloaks look so good!! I love their costumes. I also love that they look just a little bit dirty and lived in, like white robes would naturally get.

I like it! It’s not at all how I pictured them but I really like the look. It’s very distinctive and gives off all the right whitecloak feels for me.

I don't like it for practical reasons. Children of the Light are professional Soldiers first, Cultists second. Some of them even manage to be human sometimes.

So, it would have been a more obvious Religious Soldier reference to use Templar and Teutonic crusaders as a model rather than renaissance clergy.

The sabres are out of character for them too.

I'm still very excited for the show, and will watch it regardless and probably enjoy this turning of the wheel, but I will always point out inconsistencies in arms and armour because that's my thing. We'll see how they fight. I desperately hope they got the appropriate instructors and "technicians" to make the fighting and archery realistic.

They probably did it like this to save money, armour is a lot more expensive than cloth. If the show is a success they might get better gear later on
