I figured I could go ahead and start this thread now. White Sands volume 1 comes out this month! Has anyone preordered yet? I'm very excited for it! Hopefully I'll be able to preorder it sometime this week.

Totes didn't know it was coming out this month. Pre-ordered it!

I still have the .pdf of the unpublished book Brandon sent me. I should probably try reading that to see how it compares.

That's exciting! I've actually had it available to read for a couple years at least, and I never have. :embarassed: I'll probably read it after the graphic novel, which I'm excited has now been preordered!

I had never heard of this one until I heard about the graphic novel. I must investigate :shifty It's strange, because I was thinking about writing something with a similar magi system (as far as I understand it) for a while, but I had changed that particular idea a while back. It'll be neat to see what he does with it.

30% through White sands and must say its pretty damned good for an unfinished unpolished novel!

Great story so far with all the usual Sanderson magic (in both senses!).

Will be interested to see whats changed to the graphic novel version.

Finished White Sands and I enjoyed it a lot. See below if you've read the book (not graphic novel)

The story was good but annoying that it never got fully wound up and you never really got to delve into the sand masters past despite lots of hints about the religious order and the religion in general. Would be really good to find out more about Scythe too and his abilities and so on, hopefully some day he'll write a sequel. Characters were good and the story and action enjoyable.

I expect future graphic novels will have a lot of that.

I hope it doesn't only get done as graphic novels as id love to see the main novel polished and followed up.

I picked up the graphic novel, which is Volume 1 of a 3-part run. I wasn't too big a fan of the artwork, but I'm quite intrigued by the story. The magic system is very inventive, and I really love that we have cultures on the same planet that are at such a different level of technological development.

As a broad Sanderson fan, though, I was most delighted to see Khriss play a big role in the story! She's a very interesting character, and at such a different part of her character arc here than when she is seen (or heard) in other novels.

I'll definitely be checking out the future two volumes, and hopefully Sanderson delivers in the inherent brevity of the graphic novel format.

I keep seeing people posting their reviews, and meanwhile, it isn't released in Europe until July 12. :grumble I have impatience.

I never even remotely got this, had to look her up on coppermind to see who she was.

I'm unimpressed with Amazon Germany. They changed the expected delivery date to "August 25 - November 25." Cancelled our preorder, and ordered it through Book Depository instead.
