Something like Flight From Shadow?
I'm starting to give up hope there will ever be something made of quality that doesn't make me rage. there's so much coming out right now that proves it could be a worth while venture if only we could get the rights into the hands of people who want to treat it with respect. I would be so happy... It'll happen one day..right guys?
Ooh, I haven't seen that before! *adds it to the watch list*
I still think there is no way to do this the right way if it's filmed. Too many cast members with big roles, too much CGI, too long, too huge of sets...
CGI is the way to go.
It's an EXTREMELY well-made WoT fan film of one chapter of EotW. Search for it on YouTube.
Oh, please tell me this is a thing. Yeah?
Sweet! Just watched Flight From Shadow. Kinda cheesy, kinda short but pure awesomeness.
I just found this mention of Flight from Shadow and watched it. Wow, it was so much more well done than the Winter Dragon farce.
And Flight From Shadow was done 100% by fans on their own time with their own money.
Meanwhile, Winter Dragon
Oy vey, Winter Dragon was kind of the shits, yeah?
Flight from Shadow was far superior.
Hmm. I'm learning animation, so the suggestion that a WoT production should be done CG intrigues me.
I'm working on my own adaptation of the novels into a TV series as if HBO had the rights. Check my page out here.
Well that's a good thing ... I think ...
I saw Winter Dragon for the first time like... A week ago?
It was bad.
But considering that they pulled it all together in a week... Well... It was 30 minutes of content?
I enjoyed it.
In the fuss of the last events don’t get me wrong, I am supporter of Harriet, and I do think that REE did all wrong and the way they produced this pilot was horrible. I have all the important issues with it as you guys.
But still the question is did I enjoy it and honestly I did. I liked Lews and Ishamael as I think Zane did a good acting. (the interpretation of the book’s character is another topic) I lked how the madness was portrayed and Zane’s confused facial expressions. I liked the camera work with some shots pointing the change in Lews. Also the idea with the dolls was creepy when you realize what they are. I liked the use of chapter icons (theme connections is another topic). Yes, I can point like everybody else the big changes with Ilyena and Dragonmount and other stuff but I chose not to be bothered by it and to focus on pure joyment of seeing the prologue on TV screen. Something that was only in my dreams.
Because what is the point of ranting? REE’s lack of preparation, lack of advertisement was on purpose.
Winter Dragon wasn’t made to do justice for the series. But still the people involved in it as director and actors DID put an effort which is visible. Instead they could do it much much more unwatchable.
So I chose to not put useless negative energy in the episode (and to save it for much more guilty target - REE). I acknowledge the episode as bad production, just I enjoy it too.
A movie wouldn't do the books justice, they would end up cutting too much like they have done with LOTR, a series would see it a lot better, in my opinion
TLotR deserved some good cutting!
