Like many here before me I have been struck by the WoT bug (More like addiction.) and I am absolutely in love with the idea of a game based on this series.

I am currently working as a Animator and Scripter for Sega and I am gathering my friends and coworkers to begin development on a game based on WoT. I would like to hear from my fellow fans on what THEY would like to see in a WoT Game.

Currently I am thinking of something with a Dragon Age feel, maybe with a Strategy meta game... The problem is that I am unsure on what route to go for this, do I want to try to create a whole NEW character that was NEVER mentioned in the books but try to keep him close to the main cast as possible? Or do I want to straight shoot it and set the player as Rand? We are also thinking of creating our own Aes Sedai and the player could be her warder. I am thinking the game should have a very similar feel to the way "Mount and Blade"/"Dynasty Warrior Empires" perform.

There are many gameplay mechanics and stories I could go and I feel that what better than ask my fellow fans?

There was a computer game done quite a while back, which was set many years before the books. It was actually pretty good, if you ignore the fact that one person "who can channel but a trickle" single-handedly defeats just about every villain imaginable :p It was an FPS-style game, I think it possibly used something like the Quake engine (if you google it I'm sure someone with more tech-knowledge than myself will have a page with more info).

One thing I would say is that whatever you go for, please incorporate the Ways at some point. They were in the other WoT game, and they were so well done. That sudden thought of "Did I just hear wind?!" and then fleeing ahead of Machin Shin was fantastically terrifying :D

MMORPG - light vs. shadow. That would be a blast! :look

My initial reaction was that making it an RPG was the obvious thought, but upon further reflection, I think a during-the-Breaking survival game could be really fun. Just please don't make it necessarily first-person perspective, because I'd like to be able to play it. :lol

I would say to do it like the Elder Scrolls games, capable of either 3rd person or 1st person perspective. That way it appeals to both audiences.

Really, I wish all games did this. I just straight up can't play first-person perspective because it makes me dizzy and kind of nauseous, and I have a friend who gets really confused and turned around trying to play third-person, but we like the same types of games in terms of content and really ought to be the same game buying demographic.

Ideal for me would be something with various origin options, like Two Rivers, Novice, Aiel or something, and open world so you can really explore all the different nations but with the main plotline and characters when you want to pick it up. I don't ask for much :D

Sorry Aes Sedai but faction RPGs are terrible (as a WoW player I think the factions are an albatross around the games neck), I always thought a great idea for a Wheel of Time MMO would be an "alternate" turning where Padan Fain wasn't released in Book 2, Rand made it to Illian, was Declared Dragon there and effectively the game picks up from The army of Dragonsworn being formed. This would give a nice jump off point for lots of content since without things falling into place as they did..Randland would be much worse off.

It would be awesome if you could actually incorporate weaving of the One Power. Different combinations would have different effects.

Cool beans! I still have my copy, and play it through every now and then. My favourite bit by far is The Ways. Absolutely frickin' awesome :D

I personally think something like Total War or Europa Universalis would be cool. You choose a nation, build infrastructure, research technology, recruit armies, and then guide it through the end of the Third Age, with options to align your nation with the various factions that pop up (Dragonsworn, Salidar, White Tower, Aiel, the Shadow, etc.). different nations have different benefits and weaknesses, some are flat out harder for those veteran players (like Mayene or something).

Alternatively, a game set during one of the major conflicts of the third age, like the Trolloc Wars (maybe an RPG quest to travel around the Westlands to lay the groundwork for the Compact of Ten Nations) or Hundred Year Wars. Lots of opening for New lore specific for that setting, whith room to be experimental and not muck up people's perception of the series.

Or a stealth-assassination game where you play as an Aiel assassin (okay, maybe not super-canon friendly, but bear with me), who's out to kill the king of Cairhien during the Aiel Wars. Or maybe a Myrddraal; scary evil magic powers. Like Dishonored or Thief.

I would love to see WoT done up in a way similar to Skyrim. I haven't really decided it I would like it multiplayer or not.

Fun thing about that, is that any game we make we can set in "Another turning of the wheel" to explain away inconsistencies, just because the pattern repeats does not mean that every thread will come down exactly the same.

I would love to see something Skyrim-style (although maybe with different character origin options a la Dragon Age, like Alessandra). Sticking to Rand as a main character for a single player RPG would limit the direction the story would take, and for fans of the series it would not be very suprising. :p

Or- something like KotOR. Give the player character Light or Dark choices, and have that affect the outcome and powers/skills available to the character.

I have to say, if it's a single player RPG I will probably pick it up regardless... :lol But especially if it's in the same vein as any of the three I mentioned above which are my faves. ^^

Another game I have not personally played but have watched my husband sink tons of hours into is Crusader Kings 2. You could also definitely run the series that way and do the more political/war making level kind of stuff. And if that was the route taken I could definitely see Rand/Mat/Perrin/etc as player character options. :D I suspect this is a similar idea to what Aran mentioned, but I'm not familiar with those specific games.

I have began to put down notes for a JRPG style Wheel of time game I planned on with the RPG maker if the engine suppored it, thinking mostly on the Lufia 2 style of "there are two kinds of resource you can spend"

and then have each character have their own two "resource bars" like Rand will have Saidin and Void, Saidin would be used for casting spells, and Void would be used for special sword attacks.

I like many of you have waited and waited, and still no sight of a game ever to be made, I do own the old Windows CD game, but just never could get into it. That being said I came across this game called Magicka on Steam Powered, it is not at all a similar story, however, the combat is very unique in that you combine elements with the WASD keys (move with mouse), and it feels like being an Aes Sedai sometimes... anyways just thought I would share... it saddens me daily I do not have a MMO of the wheel of time to get lost in. :p

I really like the idea of Dragon Age style choice in Origins which would have you starting off as Aes Sedai, Asha'man, Gaidin, Aiel, or Children of Light.

Each could easily have tasks and goals that need to be accomplished while major Randland events occur while possibly effecting parts of those events. Each could also gain allies and/or encounter characters from the books.

There's also the style of Kingdoms of Amalur which was simple, but allowed for a story set in a very complex world.....
