Ha I was just browsing around thinking to myself, man I'm avoiding a whole lot of things by being on here. I think I'm mostly avoiding my nagging inner monologue. Sometimes its a real ass. :P

You guys are hilarious.

I am avoiding sleep at the moment. Although I will deeply regret it tomorrow morning. Although the boys have no school so I don't have to get up early. Bonus.

My teen was such an ass to me today, I wanted to beat him. (Ok. Kidding) Whoever made this silly rule of not beating children :tag.

So, Zandera, my lovely, while your advise sounds heavenly, how do you manage to avoid kids during me time?

We didn't have that rule back in my day :tug

I'm avoiding homework. I don't have to do it - no one will check, really - but I should be responsible and make studying in the future easier, right? Right? :look:

Back to avoiding homework and life in general. I have a good excuse - I am sick!

No, wasn't a fun couple of weeks. Off to a good weekend so far, though. I went to visit Stasia perform and that was awesome, although Gilbert and Sullivan are absolute nutters.

then went and saw a friend's baby for the first time, since I'm finally not sick. That was nice too. No, I don't want any more babies. Was quite happy to give it back. Especially as it pooped. :x

So, now back to pretending to write a paper in finance. Although I'm doing a lot better in that class than I thought. By no effort of mine, mind you. Sheer luck and graces of other people!

Very simply--I just don't have any! Not the answer you were looking for, was it? Apologies. For more "me" time have you ever considered trading a fellow parent to have the kids over at their house for an evening if you do the same on another night? That's the best thing I can think of, but probably not very good, as I have little experience in that realm. :P

What I could really use is some advice on securing "me" time now that I have a job with a terribly long commute. What do I do now? D:

Commutes are excellent "me" time! Put on some music and relax, listen to an audiobook or podcast, mentally plan your day, etc.

If you're riding a bus or train versus driving, you can seriously zone out. I used to daydream stories to go with whatever music I was listening to, (attempt to) meditate, or if I'd had a particularly stressful day, let my mind veer into dark and unusual places for a bit. By the time I arrived, I felt like I could take a deep breath and face the day with Aes Sedai calm. :mother

I'm a big fan of audiobooks during my commute. Either that, or music that I can really jam to (yes, I'm one of those who sings and dances while I drive). Either activity helps me avoid dwelling on the stress of bad traffic and a long drive and puts me in a MUCH better mood both on the way to work and on the way home.

As for what I'm avoiding by being here ... today I am avoiding work and my life in general. This is a much better place to be than RL at the moment. :P

Thank you for the advice. :hug My car battery died in the multi-blizzards of Boston, and it locked me out of the audio system. I've been too busy (with work, of course :x ) to fix it. I think getting some audio books sounds like a great idea!

I'm avoiding sorting contracts. I have much more interesting work at the job now, but unfortunately I did all of today's so... I'm stuck sorting contracts--and avoiding it. :look: (Sh don't tell.)

I'm not so much avoiding anything as much as I'm being here hunting for dwarves. :look:

But I'm hunting for dwarves to avoid studying, and also to avoid thinking about what I'm going to eat for the next couple of days (moreso this one). Bleh.

I love sorting things! :joy In fact my favourite job ever was probably when I worked in one of those CD shops where we had all the empty CD cases on the shelves and had the corresponding discs all stacked in little numbered envelopes behind the counter. I was the best at sorting them. I think people always think I'm having them on when I say I love that stuff but I really honestly do! :pleased-1:
