I was browsing my recommendations on Amazon, and The Lightning Struck Heart came up. This series, The Tales of Verania, turned out to be one of the funniest and most off the wall things I've ever read. Has anyone else given this a try? What did you think?

I thought the series was alternately heart-wrenching and hilarious. :)

I've also read his Bear and Otter series (4 books) and am reading...I dunno what the series is called. First book was Wolfsong and it ripped my heart out. So many feels with that book! The second in the series came out last week, called Ravensong. It has, so far, approached the emotion-wrenching glory of Wolfsong but not quite met it. That said, it's still an amazing book. I'm looking forward to the next two, whenever they are written and released. :)

    Tales of Verania is fantasy.
    Bear/Otter are contemporary.
    Wolfsong/Ravensong are more urban fantasy.

You can tell that all have been written by the same author, but the pace of the books, the content within - T.J. Klune is pretty great at writing different types of books in different ways but still producing content that is uniquely his. I admire that.

Were there others as funny? I actually laughed out loud a few times in Verania. I still get a chuckle out of Sam walking into a rock after talking about how aware he is.

I think that series was the funniest, but Bear/Otter were a close second. Wolfsong/Ravensong have funny moments, but I would not classify them as humorous overall.
