Things I liked: The whole freaking book.

Things I didn't like: Finishing, realizing that there will never be another WoT book for me to look forward to.

But isn't the DO described as a huge force in the universe? He's not really a being - he is described as evil itself, or the manifestation of all evil. Destroying him is akin to destroying evil in its totality.

Oooooo let's not start this discussion again, or people here might kill me, and then themselves! :pleased-1:
Just read later in the thread, it's been talked about A LOT!

One small thing I liked quite a lot: That the discussion between Rand and Egwene at Merrilor came to shouts and swearwords - they were blessedly themselves for once, just friends arguing with youthful passion.

What I want to know is - what was up with Nynaeve chopping off all her hair? :(

She didnt, it was burned or something durring her test for the shawl.....if I am remembering correctly.

Indeed, she lost it during her test for Aes Sedai.

Her entire body was afire with pain. Her shoulder, legs, arms and back still bled. She was burned to blisters in swaths across her body, and the greater part of her braid was gone. Her unraveled hair fell across her face as she tried to banish the memories of what she had done.
She heard groans from nearby, and through bleary eyes she saw the Aes Sedai in the circle break off their weaves and slump. She hated them. She hated each and every one of them.

The more I think about it, the more I don't like Demandred's super-bladesmaster status

I dunno, Rand managed to pretty much be a Blademaster in a couple years.

Demandred had decades to practice. Hell depending on when he picked it up it could be as much as 120 years.

But as a ballpark him and LTT probably picked it up around the time sha'je and the other bloodsports were becoming popular. So maybe 50 years before the start of the War of Power at least I'd think as a minimum, probably a lot more.

As long he had the natural talent, he had ooodles of time to get awesome at it.

Maybe. I certainly didn't like the way he considered Asmodean as Lan's true identity, even if it was to dismiss it immidiately.

Yeah that was a little weird.

Looks like a day of channeling and obsessing on LTT was getting to his mind.

Things I am still unsure about:

- Who was Nakomi? I get that Avienda's secret viewing in Rhuidean was necessary to give the Aiel something to do aside from being purely a fighting force, but I was expecting something more there.
- Rand's magic pipe at the end. So is he in God-mode now after learning how to affect the Pattern directly? Or was it a ter'angreal?

I like just about everything about the book, its hard for me to dislike the end of a journey I've spent 15 years living through. The only legitimate complaint I have is that it is over. I want to see more!

Hi guys, I'm knew to this as of today.

Parts I liked:

-Each of Androl and Pevara's scenes. Especially when Androl took out all of the Ashaman and Myrdraal at the Black Tower using gateways.
-The 3 duels with Demandred--Lan's duel was especially studdly.
-Mellar cutting off Birgitte's head and then her coming back for revenge
-Egwene's duel with M'Hael
-Thom throwing daggers at Black Ajah
-Perrin reaching over and snapping Lanfear's neck
-I was amazed at all of the coordination and planning it took to write the whole Last Battle. It all fit together wonderfully.

Parts I didn't like:
-Moraine's role in the meeting at Merrilor felt too rushed
-Padan Fain's role. It felt unnecessary after all of this time but maybe that was RJ point.
-Logain did not merrit glory in my eyes but maybe that is yet to be seen in the years to come in the new age.
-I wanted to find out what happened to several characters: Amys, Sorilea, and a few others

Parts that surprised me:
-Olver sounding the horn
-Graendal turning into a hag and her major part using Compulsion on the generals.
-Perrin's role. I was not sure how he was going to be used in the Last Battle so it surprised me how vital he was.
-The origin of the red Aiel

- Bela. WTF?!

my dream ending for Bela was for her to return to Rand somehow. perhaps instead of dying she could have been the horse left outside rands tent when he awoke [eg a random riderless horse whom rand recognises as bela]. That to me would have been a nice send off.

I personally loved the book.

likes
-The forsaken
-Mat and Perin
-Logain, his part in the story was great.
-Lan.
-then end

Dislikes
-Moraine's role in the last battle. All the way through the other books she played such a pivital role, and yet at the end she was made to stand back and watch, i wanted her to be more involved/badass than she was..
-Padan Fains death, it felt too easy and too simple.

Oh no. The true Bao is going to kill you when he sees your name. It was after he that the character was named.

He is one and the same, Kaldam. Azrael had an official name change here to match the name given to him in the books, which included his RL name. It's all good with the bad man. :pleased-1:

Finished reading two days ago and I had to make a post on it somewhere to vent how I feel.

I thought it was an excellent ending. I was simply stunned it was over when I finished the last book. Is there anything comparable to the WOT in the history of the English language.

Absolutely stunning. Impressed. Wish I could produce an epic a tour de force on this scale. Again stunning book. Beyond the reach of mere mortals.

That would have been so perfect, Halan Gaidin!

Things I liked...

Rand was awesome and I am glad he got to live, though letting his dad think he is dead is a total douchbaggy thing to do.
I loved Lanfear and Graendal both
Egwene was as wonderful as always
Mat was less annoying than in the last book

Things i did not like...

Everything else :P Specifically Demandred, Moiraine, Nynaeve, Perrin, Elayne, Min, and most of the book. Honestly, I will never read it again. It read like fan fiction... where none of the characters do what you know they would, but rather what someone else wishes they had been written to be like instead. I was disappointed with the majority of it. Also, the magic seemed different. It seemed to follow different rules than it has for the entire series. I didn't like it at all. The swearing seemed to be way off, like sometimes it was int he wrong place in a sentence or some such. It felt forced.

Funny, I found Egwene to be annoying in this book, back to ther old self righteous self where she thinks she knows better than everyone else for no good reason, after the last couple of books where I had really liked her.

I thought this. I loved her when she was a "novice" in the Tower, standing up to Elaida and so on. I even liked it when she was dealing with becoming the Amyrlin proper later. But from what I remember, I found her pretty sanctimonius in AMOL. Didn't mean I wasn't sad when she died, I was upset, but at the same time, that was one of her better moments in the book...

Yes, my thoughts too. I just had started to like Egwene in the last few books, and then ... back to being the besserwisser. :(
