My brother said they should cast everyone on the JordanCon registration list. Haha.

There are so many characters in the books, that they should cast everyone on TarValon.net, DragonMount, and JordanCon registration list.

There's so many characters, they probably could and still have all the main roles for real actors.

Seriously though. Casting fans at extras would be a great way to get widespread support for the show.

That would be awesome! Then everyone would be so thrilled to watch the show to see themselves, and all their family would watch to see them! :P

It'd be free publicity, so I don't see why it would anger anyone. Might as well start that sucker!

I, after all, would love to play an Ogier. :p

I think they will not really get many die hard fans in it, as i can imagine many of them will be disappointed by some of the choices that will be made in the adaption for the series.

Bring. It. On.

Regardless, even if production values turn out to be god-awful and budget about 100m too low for it to actually succeed in a major way, i'm excited about any sort of attempt in taking this to the big screen.

On one hand, i want nothing more than to watch a WoT TV series. On the other, i've imagined the characters as looking and sounding a certain way for so many years that i would be hesitant to watch the series and potentially ruin my imagined image of the characters due to poor casting choices

Either way, a really exciting announcement and i cant wait to see where it goes!!

That is exactly how I felt about the Outlander TV series. I LOVE the books, and the show looked REALLY good, but I just couldn't adjust to the characters. The actors are fantastic and the show really is wonderful but it so clearly didn't match what is in my head that I couldn't watch more than a few episodes. :\

I have hopes that casting will be done well as WoT has a very active and vocal fan base whose voices i hope are included in the casting process. Fingers crossed.

Also, one of my co-workers has been trying to get me to read/ watch the Outlander series and i have been putting it off for over a year now. I've seen it mentioned a few times on this site so i may have to finally get to it soon

Fingers crossed indeed!

Outlander is a fabulous story - you should definitely give it a try, whether it be the tv version or the book version. I wasn't sure where it would go after the first book, and I was put off by the start of the second book, but once I accepted the story arc I realized how truly amazing it is and I'm hooked for good at this point. :)

Just a heads-up for anyone thinking of reading Outlander, there is a lot of rape, attempted rape, and discussion of rape in the first book, and at least one instance includes some really visceral sensory details. Mentioned because I suspect I would have enjoyed the book a whole lot more if I'd known that going in.
