Yes, I just think it interesting that she speaks so confidently on something she really has no idea about.

Why do the Aiel think they call the Tuatha'an "Lost Ones" - we see the start of the term, and that Wise Ones and Clan chiefs know, but I think no other Aiel does, though I suppose it's possible that they believe that the Tuatha'an were an offshoot of the Aiel who decided to take up the Way of the Leaf, rather than one that maintained it.

The Tuatha'an are the same people as the Aiel, but they are the ones that we see abandoning the quest they were given by the Aes Sedai. That is when of the leaders call them "Lost Ones" and that term stuck.

Regular Aiel may not know the full story, but the term for them stuck. That is also why the Tuatha'an can cross the Waste, the Aiel despise them but will not kill them.

Welcome @Schiwalker ! Indeed we are some chapters ahead, but we can have some break before starting the Great Hunt and you may be able to catch up then! ^^

    Week 5 begins :joy
These are some of the most tedius chapters for me to read, I try to read them all at once, so that I can be done with them :look

I was ok with these chapters. I felt they were pretty quick. though I really disliked the weird flashback sequence in Rand's chapters - I think as writing, it just didn't work

Yeah, it makes the chapter very confusing. I don't understand why he felt it was necessary to make over half the chapter a flashback.

I'm almost done with week 5's chapters, but I got sidetracked by Lord of the Rings. :look

I forgot that there was a gore scene with Gode there for a bit. That's...pretty terrifying. Gonna be honest.

It reminded me of Indiana Jones:

You know...as much as I love learning about archeology, I haven't seen Indiana Jones. :look

I kind of skimmed over these scenes when I was reading through these at 14. As an adult, I love horror movies and such, so the horror elements just add to it.

.These chapters continue the somewhat leisurely pace of the previous batch, giving us time to catch our breath before we ramp up again, which is not to say they are unventful.

    Chapter 28
Nynaeve has begun to think about the benefits of Healing with the Power, though she still doesn't want to
She is feeling attracted to Lan - "Lan would be better by himself - a Warder should be able to handle what was needed, she told herself hastily, feeling a sudden flush; no other reason"
Why does emotion affect the trace Moiraine placed on the boys?
    Chapter 29
Egwene realises Perrin can talk to wolves
Egwene has only been channeling a week or so, and had probably only touched the source a dozen times at most, but still this is enough that she doesn't like the stedding
We had previously heard of Artur Hawkwing, we learn a little more of the War of a Hundred Years
Is Egwene right that if there was a city, there would be something left? There are plenty of cities that were abandoned and left no trace
    Chapter 30
Elyas tells Perrin to throw the axe away if he ever enjoys it, It takes a long time, but eventually he does
Despite not really caring for humans, Hopper sacrifices himself to try and save Perrin
Nine Whitecloaks were killed - Perrin killed a couple, so the wolves must have done for the rest
Bornhald believes wolves are creatures of the Dark One, with little justification, other than the preposterous one that some trollocs have wolves muzzles, teeth and fur. By that logic, he should think goat, sheep and hawks are also creatures of the Dark One
    Chapter 31
Starts with a farmer giving them a couple of scarves then jumps back a few days. I hated this the first time I read it and still find it extremely annoying
Mat has grown attached to the dagger and doesn’t want to sell it
Mat’s surly attitude is beginning to affect their interactions with people. I think we should be able to realise he is being affected by the Shadar Logoth taint as Moiraine described
    Chapter 32
Rand- and Mat might have only spent a week practicing with Thom, but they both got good enough to use their skills for money. Rand even seems to have learned a dozen songs
How does Gode find them? – The dagger, though it isn’t explicit here
How does Gode deal with Jak, Strom and Hake?
Rand summons lightning to help them escape – this might be easy to miss, but given Moiraine’s explanation earlier of the first time someone channels, it’s also pretty obvious
    Chapter 33
Annoyingly, we jump forward a day or so at first. Mat has been blinded by the lightning and is taking a while to recover
Master Kinch has heard of the Two Rivers and knows where it is – many people, including Loial later, have not
After the scene with Master Kinch, we jump back again to them escaping the Dancing Cartman. I have no idea why anyone thought structuring it this way was a good idea
Rand has another dream. Ba’alzamon kills Gode. Does he really kill him, or is it another elaborate trick?
We then meet Alpert Mull, who is going to give them the scarf from the beginning of
How did Paitr hear? He says Darkfriends have ways, but what are they? It seems he only has a vague idea
They do remark that Paitr could have fit in Emmonds Field
They flee quickly, but tales of Paitr outrun them
Rand’s illness comes again. It’s not even subtle that this is channeling related
We meet Milli Skane, who we will see several times throughout the series
    Mat seriously considers killing her
The chapter ends meeting Hyam Kinch, from the start of the chapter
    Chapter 34
We pick up after Master Kinch has dropped them off and they have walked to Carysford
We learn more about what led to the Aiel War – Bunt seems to know that the Aiel came because Avendoraldera was chopped down. It does seem like this may be common knowledge. Pity everyone at the time deciding defending Laman was a good idea
Very little else happens in this chapter

I think the Avendoraldera incident was known after the war was already on the way. Yeah, Laman is perhaps the biggest fool of this entire series, which is saying a lot :tug

I think that Paitr also felt the drag of the dagger. Moiriaine points out that any Darkfriend would feel it.

I am on chapter 15. Reading this thinking about a TV series, I feel like the first half of this book is 2 maybe 3 episodes of source materials tops.

Yeah, I can see how it would translate very well to a series without totally disrupting the pacing, but the casting announcements were so weird that I am not sure how much they are going to - for instance, we saw the cast for an episode 1 table read, but there was no Thom, he wasn't announced until much later, no Min until they seemed to be working on book 2 - did they just cut her Eye of the World scenes?
