The Ways

I have been doing another reread of MoL in-between homework and life. I just got to the part about the trollocs invasion through the Ways.

So, after the battle, were the Ways restored? I think it would be cool if they were, but also would they even be relevant because of the ability to travel is much faster? I have looked and I haven't seen anything mentioning them anymore after about halfway through the book. They were made a great deal of really in the series, so I just wonder what may have happen to them now.

After Travelling got introduced, the Ways really just became an afterthought. I'm not sure if they got restored, mainly because Machin Shin is still floating around in there, and as far as I know, it's not tied to the shadow, but a different evil entirely.

I wonder if Machin Shin is at all tied to Mashadar? If that's the case, then when it was killed the Ways would be safe again. They do have some similarities at first glance, and neither have well explained origins. Although, like Lok said, Traveling makes them somewhat obsolete so maybe no one cared to find out.

But non-channelers and channelers not strong enough to travel can still use the ways.

My guess would be that they slowly got better after the Last Battle, just like they slowly deteriorated. But that's just a pure guess.

I wonder if, since Machin Shin seems to be tied to the taint on saidin, that they started getting better when saidin was cleansed? Maybe that's why so many Trollocs where able to use them to invade Caemlyn.

I may be wrong, but I thought the Ways were around during the AoL....and they could travel then as well. I think it would be cool to travel the Ways even if I could channel a gateway.

No, the ways were something the male aes sedai gave to the ogier as thanks for letting the stave off insanity in the stedding. They are a 3rd age creation (well... I guess it depends on when you say the 3rd age started. I would say the moment Lews Therin attempted to seal the bore.).
