The Tar Valon Times is hiring!

Now is a great time to join the Tar Valon Times team! We're about to transition to a blog format with articles being released throughout the month. We're adding more WoT-themed content. We're looking for ways to engage with readership outside of TV.Net. And we'd love to have your energy and ideas on the team!

The term begins on May. 1 and applications will be accepted until April 30. (Note: Terms normally run June-November and December through May, however we're hiring a month early since I'm getting married next month and will be on a short LoA.)

Qualifications

• Anyone of any rank or position may apply; there is no membership time limit.
• Experience with writing and/or creating art is a plus but not required.
• Ability to dedicate the necessary time to complete your contributions to the TVT is mandatory.

How to Apply

• Send an email to editor@tarvalon.net, marketing@tarvalon.net and keeper@tarvalon.net with the subject set as "APPLICATION - TVT STAFF - YOURNAMEHERE."
• Tell us what makes you perfect for the TVT team!
• Include at least one sample of your work/writing/art and/or creative endeavors.
• In your application please include which of the positions listed below you are applying for.
• Applications are due by April 30, 2018.

Content Creator: WoT-themed

• Do you love The Wheel of Time?
• Have you ever had a conversation about why a particular character is over- or under-rated?
• Do you know all sorts of obscure facts from the books?
• Do you have a passion for WoT fashion?
• Do you like to “stir the pot” by making a statement about a WoT topic and watching everyone get up in arms about it?
• If you answered yes to ANY of these questions, then WE WANT YOU!

Tasks: Develop WoT-themed content for the new blog-style Tar Valon Times, including memes, images, Top 10 lists, including articles similar in style to those found on BuzzFeed, recipes, etc. Articles can be brief, image-only content, or more in-depth – there’s no limit to what you can do! We have an abundance of resources in our Library and Classroom to help spark ideas for topics, and we have a great team to collaborate with and bounce ideas off of.

Commitment: Create a minimum of one article per month, due by the 15th of each month.

Term: 7 months

Content Creator: Site News and Events

• What’s going on at TarValon.Net? It is your job to find out and report on it!

Tasks: Main topics include JordanCon, Anni, and Fall Ball recaps (you don’t need to attend the event to write about it), including results of outreach/fundraising. Other topics include our annual fundraiser, free weeks, and some local events. Also includes the monthly recap of site happenings.

Commitment: Create a minimum of one article per event (generally one per month, though sometimes there will be more or less in a given month) plus the monthly site recap

Term: 7 months

Content Creator: Columnist

• Do you have a lot to say about a specific topic? This is the place for you!

Tasks: Write a themed column/series on a topic of your choice, with the approval of the Editor - examples of previous columns include “off-the-grid living”, “book reviews”, and “behind the scenes of Anni planning”

Commitment: Consistently create one article every month or every other month, as approved by the Editor

Term: 7 months (for monthly column) or 1 year or (bi-monthly column)

Content Creator: General Interest

• Are you interested in writing for the TVT but don’t know exactly what you want to write about? We have a place for you too!

Tasks: Write articles on topics of your choice, as approved by the editor. Also write monthly Member Spotlight articles (interviews with site members).

Commitment: Write monthly Member Spotlight article, plus consistently create one other article every month or every other month

Term: 7 months
