Oh yes, the ending is definitely the best part of the book... And makes you want to keep reading
It's definitely a good set-up for the finale.
Made it part way into ch 6 tonight.
The victors have to deal with the fact that their victory hasn't necessarily meant positive outcomes for everyone, particularly the plantation skaa.
Vin refuses to let OreSeur eat the assassins, so forces him to kill a wolfhound instead...
Vin refuses to let another Allomantic metal go undiscovered. The others (including Elend) don't really think it's worth it, despite Vin not being the one that most see as having a lot of intellectual curiosity.
Elend has grown up around kandra, but still has pretty large blindspots. He believes the kandra are basically robots and don't have emotions.
Elend doesn't think it's useful for him to learn to fight, since any assassin who attacks him will be an Allomancer. But like.... hazekillers exist. Non-Allomancers can hold their own against Mistings.
Vin can see metal lines even with her eyes closed. A hint of how Steel Inquisitors 'see'.
Vin notices that OreSeur has started being less cold since she treated him better and he realized that the wolfhound body has its perks.
Vin's confrontation with the Watcher reminded me who it is! I remember now!
It's kind funny that Vin just has random bones in a basket in her room.
Chapter 4, but also a super late game Hero of Ages spoiler, don't click unless you've read HoA before.
The Old man that died in Chapter 4, I'm reminded of the mist snapping people to be Atium Mistings, but if it failed they died? That's what this looks like here but my mind is still a bit fuzzy on it.
Spoiler in response to Thaddius:
Yeah, that's right. The mist originally 'snapped' people to become mistings, but could cause death.
It's Wednesday! You know what that means?
11/20-11/26: Chapters 12 - 19 (First half of Part 2) [76 Pages]
We get to enjoy the first half of Part two with 8 full chapters, on average of 9.5 pages per chapter. Let's go!
Started part 2!
I actually started reading it today!
the watcher is Zane right? I think that's his name? Straff's other son
Is the man selling dogs with the half shaved head someone we should recognize?
I finished the first book and then started Hero of Ages thinking it was the second book.
When in doubt, it's always Hoid.
Yes, I believe so.
At least you realized it!
You are correct.
That's what I was wondering
I can't find any info about it, though.
Full disclosure for me is that I'm a little behind and only on Chapter 10, but there's still plenty of time to read the rest. I'm starting to feel the pull back in again. Reading all of the first book was a disjointed distracted phase for me but I'm glad it's finally clicking again.
I don't remember anything about how this book will end so it's like reading for the first time.
Part 1 spoiler:
Vin's attitude to OreSeur is annoying. He can't help that he eats corpses, Vin. When she brought the dog to be killed I was like WTF Vin you monster, just let him eat a dead person.
I had the exact same thought!!!
