While this book has some awesome parts in it, mostly Egwene, it also has some not-so-good parts in it, mostly Rand :look But I think that feeling is mostly due to the fact that the last two books are AWESOME!

Re: The Gathering Storm Re-Readalong: Prologue - Ch 5

Gathering Storm Prolouge - Masemsa is dead, which makes everything Perrin and Faile did in the past several books utterly pointless.

Gathering Storm 1 - Why are they keeping one of the Forsaken alive? Why? What the point of that? Asmodean was put in a far different situation than Semhirage, and she very likely doesn't know anything about the Dark One's major plans.

Gathering Storm 2 - Now that is how to react to torture.

Gathering Storm 3 - I am sorry Ruarc, I know the Aiel are not used to restoring order and peace however It is needed, Rand has to have the wetlands behind him and he has to root out the Forsaken and the only way of doing that is to restore as much order and stability as possible because that will bring the Forsaken out of hiding.

Gathering Storm 4 - Shut up Gawyn. Do the story a favor and jump in a lake. I wish Rand fell on you in book one and broke your neck.

Gathering Storm 5 - And another reason Rand has legitimate right to be annoyed and angry with everyone around him. He gives the light it's greatest victory since the Dark One was unleashed upon the world and nobody belives him including people who were there when it happened.

Is it a wonder the guy goes off the deep end? He gets like zero real trustworthy help

Re: The Gathering Storm Re-Readalong: Prologue - Ch 5

    Prologue:
-It sounds like where Tylee’s from in Seanchan (Maram Kashor), there are palm trees, or something very similar.
-Tylee realizes the importance of the Last Battle and doesn’t think they have time to be fighting the people here.
-Seanchan fighters also use the same forms that Rand was taught by Lan.
-There are fortresses in the deep Blight apparently.
-Graendal thinks that Demandred likes having armies to command, but that there are no other armies in the world that aren’t accounted for. She doesn’t even consider Shara.
-Rand losing his hand affects Moridin, too.
-Moridin doesn’t want Rand kills, but he wants Rand to ‘know pain of heart, frustration, and anguish.’
-Despite supposedly serving Rand, Masema is determined that the future will involve no one daring to question or scorn himself, the Prophet.
-Masema believes that Rand himself appeared to him and told him to kill Perrin in a dream. Yes, Masema, we know you’re crazy.
-Thank you, Faile, for taking care of Masema for us.

    Chapter 1:
-The wind slams into something before reaching Arad Domon , ‘something unseen, something spawned by the distant darkness to the north.’ Any idea what this is??? :scratch
-Rand has Artur Hawkwing’s sword… but who gave it to him??? :scratch The Companion says that some scholars found it under a statue and gave it to him, but it’s presented in this chapter like we should know who ‘they’ is who gave it to him… I feel like I missed something. :blink
-Rand’s insistence against hurting women even extends to Semirhage… I mean, I can understand being against torture on principle, but the way he thinks about it, he’s only not allowing torture because she’s a woman. :blink :scratch
-Rand actually thinks that Egwene might let Semirhage go and take Rand captive if they turn Semirhage over to her. :eek Ummm… Rand? I know you’re going a little crazy, but really?

    Chapter 2:
-The changes in the hallways of the Tower have extended to actually changing the content of paintings… huh.
-Egwene wonders how Elaida would react if she were collared by a sul’dam.
-Elaida considers creating a 4[SUP]th[/SUP] oath to obey the Amyrlin Seat. Oh Elaida…
-Elaida considers Egwene a wilder. But didn’t Egwene only start Channeling when Moiraine started working with her?? How is she a wilder?

    Chapter 3:
-Aviendha begins her punishments by the Wise Ones in her journey to becoming a Wise One herself.
-Bair gives Aviendha a chance to declare herself a Wise One by asking her “Oh, and are you a Wise One now?”I wonder what would have happened if AViendha did declare herself to be a Wise One here.
-Aviendha notices that Amys is asking her questions that she already knows the answers to, making sure that she’s ready to be a Wise One. Aviendha’s ready to be a Wise One, which is why Dorindha and Nadere had come to retrieve her from Caemlyn.
-After Amys assigns her to sort seeds, Aviendha becomes even more determined! >: O Which is why it takes forever for her to give up and declare herself a Wise One. :p She’s just too stubborn.

    Chapter 4:
-Gawyn’s apparently been raiding Bryne’s forces. He’s realizing he’s on the wrong side, but doesn’t really know what else to do… Gawyns is just so frustrating. :facepalm He’s so slow to realize that, if Elayne, Egwene, and Nynaeve all have sided with the rebels, that’s a sign that they might not be all evil… and that the three of them might not be just pawns to the ‘real’ Aes Sedai. He’s stuck by wanting to take both sides somehow… and his army’s insistence on obeying the Amyrlin and not questioning her even if she clearly wants them dead.

    Chapter 5:
-The Seafolk were hesitant to send Harine back to Rand. Probably just worried she’s make another costly deal with him.
-Ugh, I can feel Rand’s frustration here. :facepalm No one believes he actually cleaned Saidin. I mean, I definitely understand their hesitation to trust him, since he’s possibly going mad and the taint has been there for thousands of years… but still, that’s super frustrating. :|
-Rand’s now thinking of Moiraine as the good advisor she was and tries to do what she suggested. He realizes she understood what his duty as Dragon would require of him.
-Cadsuane realizes that she and Semirhage are actually very similar and starts to figure out how to break Semirhage as if she were trying to break herself.

Re: The Gathering Storm Re-Readalong: Prologue - Ch 5

One would think that Cadsuane realizing she has a ton in common with one of The Forsaken would cause her to stop in her tracks and think really hard about her life.

The Gathering Storm - 6 : So much for Aes Sedai serenity, It is sad when a supposed Novice has to yell at Aes Sedai to get their rear in gear.

The Gathering Storm - 7 : I wish Rand were more specific in his wording with the Aiel here, but he also has several different cultures to deal with, The Aiel are a bit to blame as well, applying their cultural preferences to a person who grew up not of their culture.

The Gathering Storm - 8 : There you go Siuan, admit you like Gareth, I also think Gareth would have believed Siuan if she had told him the truth from the start.

The Gathering Storm - 9 : Perrin, you dope. Of course The Two River's fighters are going to want to be at the last battle. They are the blood of Manatheran.

The Gathering Storm - 10 : This is some cold logic Rand, but it is the logic he used back in Book 3 with the Tairen Highlords, strand them in a place where they have more to worry about than stabbing him in the back.

The Gathering Strom - 11 : This is a straight up creepy scene, I love Avhiendah saying "Oh Right, they can use water to fight fires here DUHHH." I think that her time with Elayne to learn some channeling skill did her very well.

The Gathering Storm - 12 : Egwene uses logic to dismantle the crap out of the Hall in the Tower. The refusal to believe there is a Black Ajah really bites the Aes Sedai in the rear at several times in the series.

The Gathering Storm - 13 : So why did Gawyn not take the young lings with him when he leaves? He is just leaving them to be stabbed in the back by Elaida? Cause that is what is the most likely thing that would happen if Egwene weren't busy making Elaida crazy as heck.

The Gathering Storm - 14 : Why does nobody think about what could possibly happen if One of the Forsaken escapes? Does nobody think that keeping an A'dam for men within a 100 miles of Rand to be the worst idea in the history of ideas?

The Gathering Storm - 15 : The Wise ones here are a little strange, they talk about the Shaido Wise Ones being taken, and Blood Feud however throughout the past half a dozen books the wise ones in Perrin's plot talk about the Shaido being a cancer to the Aiel that need to be exterminated and that they are not Aiel at all by the time Perrin attacks Malden.

The Gathering Storm - 16 : In my opinion Egwene's plot in the tower comes to a full Climax here, later she confronts another opponent but this is the only time she and Elaida argue their points of view, and the fight between the two Amyrlin's is more at the core of the plot rather than the Seanchan showing up and blowing holes in the wall.

The Gathering Storm - 17 : And we have the one moment in the entire series where Cadsuane does something effective and useful, of course it doesn't make up for being an arrogant prat and letting a Domination Band within a hundred miles of Rand.

The Gathering Storm - 18 : Not much happens here, I don't think that the tower Aes Sedai learning traveling matters in the long run.

The Gathering Storm - 19 : Tylee is awesome, it takes +5 Holy Cajhone's to stand up to the highest living ruler in your nation and tell her she is wrong.

WHOO! Finally caught up to where I prefer to be! I always try to be a week ahead so I can post the sunday that we switch chapters over. >.> I let myself get quite behind.

Re: The Gathering Storm Re-Readalong: Prologue - Ch 5

    Chapter 6:
-And the Novice and Brown quarters switch. As far as bubbles of evil go, the hallway ones are just weird. :scratch

    Chapter 7:
    -Awww, poor Daigian. :(
-Nynaeve still think it was a mistake to encourage the Kin to stand up for themselves and so doesn’t want to make the same’ mistake’ with Aes Sedai who are weak in the Power. :facepalm
-Nynaeve acknowledges to herself that it’s good that Moiraine came to take Rand and the others from the Two Rivers and realizes that she’s just still holding on to old prejudices.
-Nynaeve wonders if Rand’s gone mad yet and considers that he might suddenly decide to imprison her.
-We see Min studying the Breaking and the sealing of the Dark One’s prison.
-Nynaeve is aware of how dangerous the Forsaken are, due to her own experience with Moghedien escaping, and thinks they should’ve just stilled Semirhage immediately. That certainly would’ve solved some problems…
-The Wise Ones are joining in with clan chief business (though only watching, not participating in the conversation with Rand), breaking Aiel custom, though that’s hardly unusual at this point. :p The Wise Ones are determined to help preserve the Aiel as much as possible while Rand destroys them.
-Rand’s super rude to Rhuarc. :facepalm “I have shared water with you, Rand al’Thor. I would not think that you would bring me here to offer insults.” Yeah, seriously, Rhuarc. :|
-As frustrating as Cadsuane can be, it’s good she’s here to remind him that the Aiel are loyal to him and that they’re doing better than anyone else could here.
-Rhuarc thinks of how much he’d like to fight with Ituralde. You know you can complement someone without having to fight them, Rhuarc. :p

    Chapter 8:
-Poor Siuan having to deal with Lelaine in Egwene’s absence. She’s certainly very good at it, though!
-I agree with Siuan-it’s fascinating how quickly people forget how formidable Siuan is just ‘cause she’s now much weaker in the Power.
-Lelaine even refers to Siuan as one of her attendants! :blink
-Curiosity about Siuan is the only reason Gareth got involved in the rebels’ cause. Ta’veren? Or just crazy luck?
-The only person Siuan can trust is Moiraine, whom she believes to be dead. :(
-Egwene finally realizes what/who was causing her headaches
-Egwene’s one of the few people to actually believe that Rand might have cleansed Saidin! Finally! Thank you, Egwene!! She’s also astute enough to realize that there’s probably a Forsaken in the Tower.

    Chapter 9:
-Perrin barely even thinks about turning the Shaido Wise Ones over to the Seanchan when Balwer expresses regret at losing them. Perrin does realize what the Shaido are going to do with them… right?
-Perrin realizes that he discarded Aram in his quest to find Faile… a bit late.

    Chapter 10:
-Thom is way better than most gleemen… which I kinda forgot since he’s the only gleeman we actually see regularly. :p
-One of the rumors about Rand has his eyes glowing in dim light. A mixture of rumors about Rand with those about Perrin?

    Chapter 11:
-Aviendha’s trying to figure out wetlander honor as it relates to why they complain all the time. She thinks it’s some big wetlander secret. :lol
-Melaine tells Aviendha that it’s very unlikely that the Aiel will be able to return to the Waste since they’ve seen how great the wetlands are.
-Aviendha considers wetland beds dangerous since they’re too comfy! ‘soft-feathered death traps’

    Chapter 12:
-Egwene beats herself up a bit for not realizing Halima was behind the headaches when they stopped as soon as she was captured.
-The Ajahs are literally sending Aes Sedai to spy on other Ajah quarters. :blink

Wow I'm super far behind. :look I had some quick Star Wars reading to do before Rogue One came out. Playing catch up now!

So far my favorite scenes are definitely Egwene in the Tower. I was terrified her efforts would be over when she had to serve Elaida, but her solution was really smart and she got super lucky with how things ultimately played out. Whew.

Rand is just annoying to me at this point because he's so paranoid about the voices in his head and what everyone must think of him.

Yeah, the Rand scenes in this book is not good :( Of course, it is not supposed to be :look
I like Egwene a lot in this book though, except the scene where she finds the Black Ajah hunters. There the argument about Raising Elaida unlawfully is very weak. It doesn't work for me. I think it is Yukiri who says it, if we start going over things like that, how much of the Halls decisions over the years may be erased? It is too late to change the past. What Egwene should have said is more in the lines of "However much she is Raised, she can be removed by the Hall. In fact it is their DUTY, if they feel the Amyrlin is harmful to the Tower" or some such. Only much more eloquently of course :look

The thing about raising Elaida isn't about what had been done in the past, it is about them saying she is a rebel against the Tower, when infact there is not technically a properly raised Amyrlin in the Tower, and it isn't just "Black sisters voted on something that makes it invalid" it was that Elaida was voted in by the absolute minimum needed, remember the majority of the votes in the tower get the "Major Consensus" as we see earlier with Egwene's dealings with the Rebel Hall.

Yes, and when you say it like that Ryu, it makes more sense, but the way it is said in the books does not work for me.

I cannot follow the logic in the argument :white

If I recall correctly, she does mention in the book that it's only really an issue because it was the absolute minimum necessary. Most Amyrlins are not raised with the minimum, so it wouldn't really invalidates past Amyrlins.

Re: The Gathering Storm Re-Readalong: Chapters 6-12

    Chapter 13:
-Ok, is it just me or is it weird how good Gawyn is at fighting? I mean, I guess he was trained by Bryne, but it just gets weird how we know all these blademasters… and Gawyn isn’t just a blademaster, but is able to soundly and regularly defeat Marlesh and Sleete (who is a blademaster himself) at once. I feel like Gawyn is a bit OP here. :p I mean, I get that Rand and Lan are amazing at fighting and so is Mat, though that’s partially ta’veren and old memories… but then we add Galad and Gawn to the mix and it gets to the point where most of the male protagonists are blademasters. :blink It just makes it less amazing when people like Rand and Lan are so good, since so are a bunch of other people. :cheese
-Gawyn at least realizes he’d make a terrible Warder. :lol Trusting Aes Sedai is kinda part of the job, after all.
-Gawyn admits that he supported Elaida because he didn’t like Siuan’s treatment of Egwene and Elayne. :facepalm So basically he only supported Elaida out of a sense of revenge against Siuan, who (while she did use Elayne, Egwene, and Nynaeve) only did what she did to help the Dragon Reborn and prepare for the Last Battle…
-Why do so many Aes Sedai think Egwene’s a Wilder??? :scratch
-The Traveling weave is spreading rapidly, despite Elaida’s initial plan to keep it relatively secret.
-Gawyn learns that Gareth is keeping his army supplied via Traveling.

    Chapter 14:
-Sorilea is understandably aghast that Rand wants to make peace with the Seanchan, realizing what they do with Channelers. “Creation of these abominations alone should warrant a blood feud.”

    Chapter 15:
-Moridin is pissed at Semirhage for blasting off Rand’s hand, since he has to deal with some of the consequences, too.
-Min finally reveals to Rand that she think he needs to destroy the seals.
-Amys continues to ask Aviendha’s advice on important issues and support her like a fellow Wise One… as Aviendha continues to stubbornly put up with her punishments. Amys even directly mentions how diligently she accepts her punishments as a bit of a hint. :p
-Amys uses ‘You speak like a Shaido’ as an insult.
-The Wise Ones and Maidens are understandably super pissed about the Seanchan using Wise Ones as damane. :mad

    Chapter 16:
-Aes Sedai are starting to refuse to wear any color besides their Ajah color, as if anything else would be betraying their Ajah.
-Ferane realizes that Egwene’s way of fighting Elaida is the most effective way and then invites her to consider the White Ajah. :)
-Elaida: “Why, even Meidani agrees with me, and she’s a Gray! You know how they are.” Wow, Elaida. :blink You seriously can’t see how the Amyrlin should not be talking like that??
-Shevan counters Elaida and actually invites Egwene to oppose her in regards to the Seanchan, as if she wants to see the two Amyrlins have a bit of a showdown.
-:facepalm I love Egwene’s infiltration of the Tower, but she almost goes too far when she’s confronting Elaida:
“I dare the truth, Elaida. You are a coward and a tyrant. I’d name you Darkfriend as well, but I suspect that the Dark One would perhaps be embarrassed to associate with you.” :facepalm I mean, tyrant and coward are certainly apt descriptions, but she’s clearly just baiting Elaida here… I mean, it does work, but it’s also really obvious.

    Chapter 17:
-Cadsuane does realize that they can’t let Semirhage get free… but greatly underestimates the resources that the Shadow has access to, in assuming that their precautions make the risks worth it.
-Cadsuane finally realizes how to break Semirhage and spanks Semirhage

    Chapter 18:
-“So what is it? Did one of the stable boys turn out to be the King of Tear?” :rofl
-Siuan is confident in Egwene’s Dreaming and believes that the Seanchan will attack the White Tower.
-Siuan realizes that she probably helped lay the groundwork for the current fractures between Ajahs in the Tower.
-Sharina realizes that Siuan is trying to keep everything together in Egwene’s absence.

    Chapter 19:
-Beslan agrees to work with the Seanchan. It makes sense, since as Tuon reveals later, the Altarans haven’t been as concerned about the Seanchan enslaving people who can channel, due to their mistrust of channelers. So they don’t find it as difficult as some would to accept Seanchan rule and customs.
-Tuon learned a lot about the people here from Setalle Anan and so is more lenient in accepting other non-Seanchan customs.
-The Seanchan still believe that the Gateway exploding was a new weapon used by Aes Sedai…
-Tuon begins to wonder what else besides Trollocs are real and not just superstition.
    -Tylee is awesome. :)
-Tuon wishes Mat were there to help her with his knowledge of Rand.

Re: The Gathering Storm Re-Readalong: Chapters 27-32

The Gathering Storm 20 - I wonder exactly what set Mat off on his little Rant here? Part of me thinks he may have been talking to Setalla or the Aes Sedai.

The Gathering Storm 21 – Cleaning up from The Battle of Malden, Perrin tries to figure out what he really wants from life, and The Faile followers show respect to the Brotherless

The Gathering Storm 22 – And this is why I think Cadsuane has no right to any of the praise she gets in or out of the books themselves. You have a weapon, that if it is used ENDS the war, you lose. Semirhage literally had the War between Light and Shadow won. That is not arguable she makes Rand open a gateway, takes him to the pit of Dhoom and has Rand forcibly tainted to the shadow. There is no win condition after that.

Rule 1 of being on someone's side, of trying to help them is to not keep the worst weakness they could have DOWN THE HALLWAY. Especially when you can open gateways, if you can teleport at will you don't keep it in the same country. Cadsuane has a house that she retired too that nobody knows the location of but her. Put it there, you can pick it up at any point if it is needed. Damedred shows up and somehow gets himself caught (which is the only conceivable reason to keep a male a'dam) then you can go get it and slap it on him. Until then don't keep it remotely close to the one person you can never afford to have put in one.

This right here is one of the reasons I consider Cadsuane one of the worst characters to exist in fiction. We are repeatedly told how great and awesome she is, but nothing she does shows her to be remotely that competent.

The Gathering Storm 23 – Cadsuane should have gotten on her hands and knees and begged for forgiveness once she saw the Domination Band, Aes Sedai or not she put the existence of reality at risk. Everything that ever is, was or will be. These past 2 chapters right here are why I loathe Cadsuane as a character, nobody calls her on how she acted here. She shows zero regret that she put everything and everyone that ever was at risk for no reason than beyond “nobody could get into that box I put weaves around it”

The Gathering Storm 24 : From one complete moron, to another complete moron. Impatient twat, a night in the stockade would have done him lots of good. In fact throw him in there for the rest of the series it can only make things better.

The Gathering Storm 25: Egwene has won at this point, Elaida has no real proof that Egwene is a Dark Friend, the moment a charge like this is made and the proof is non-existent in any logical and sane world the person to makes the charge is completely discredited.

The Gathering Storm 26: Dear Lord, the Aes Sedai sicken me in some points. Romanda is a Sitter, a representative of the Yellow Ajah, the Healing Ajah and she shows no concern for Shemerin. Imagine if the head of the only Medical Association in the world treated someone in Shemerin's situation like Romanda does, heck Aes Sedai are supposed to be Sisters.

The Gathering Storm 27: Poor poor Talmanes, he gets dragged into this entire situation against his will.

The Gathering Storm 28: One of the things that drives me up a wall about the ending of the series is that we don't find out what happens to the people of Hinderstap after Rand re-seals the Dark One, do all the things that are messed up in the pattern from the dark one fixed?

The Gathering Storm 29: And here we go, Darth Rand time, The Domani are really unlucky to have to deal with Rand when he is absolutely at his worst. Dobraine does not get lots of credit. He is a straight up loyal guy who serves Rand with little complaint.

The Gathering Storm 30: Nice to see one of the Psudeo leaders while Egwene is away is treating someone who changed sides like a valuable ally. It is not like Egwene doesn't know that Elaida knows about the world of dreams, and why didn't Gawyn bring the youngling's with him? It is not like the Tower are treating them at all well.

The Gathering Storm 31: Arrgghh, how do a group of intelligent people act so dumb. Rand's major hang up is that people are trying to manipulate him, trying to manipulate him won't help, don't try to get him to laugh or cry show him that you are trust worthy and get him to open up. Glaring at him and being aloof doesn't help that, going around his back only hurts your chances at getting him to trust you.

The Gathering Storm 32: Nobody thought to interrogate the torturers until now? Dang it Rand you are a dope.

I'm so far behind, both in reading and in this thread. :\ The holidays really took a toll on my audiobook time. Hopefully I'll be caught up by this weekend... *crosses fingers*

Re: The Gathering Storm Re-Readalong: Chapters 33-39

    Chapter 20:
-They’re very relieved to see Hinderstap. :look
-Mat misses Tuon and is really on edge because of it.

    Chapter 21:
-Hopper gets so frustrated with Perrin that he forces him out of tel’aran’rhiod. :lol
-Faile feels guilty for all the times she lorded over people, trying to force them to do what she wants… yeah, seriously, Faile. :| You were ridiculous.
-Faile thinks it’s a contradiction to be loyal to someone without swearing an oath.
-Chiad plans to make a bridal wreath for Gaul, impressed with how he handled himself in Malden.

    Chapter 22:
-Semirhage has been broken and wants to cry. That was fast.
-Semirhage calls Cadsuane’s hair ornaments a ‘paralis-net’. So it used to be a regular thing?
-The Domination Band was made during the Breaking. I guess the Seanchan used it (or the knowledge of it) to craft the a’dam.
-Rand still refuses to kill a woman even when Semirhage is torturing him. :blink I mean, I know he gets over that almost immediately after he thinks this, but it’s still weird how long he persists with it…
-Lews Therin realizes what the True Power is and freaks out. Rand is basically channeling the Dark One himself. :blink
-Semirhage thinks that the Dark One betrayed her by letting Rand use the True Power.

    Chapter 23:
-Cadsuane tries to figure out how the Domination Band was stolen. She’s not surprised that there’d be a Darkfriend in the area, but doesn’t understand how no one felt the channeling. She really underestimates the Shadow and assumes that they have access to the same tools as Cadsuane.
-Rand teaches balefire to Narishma. I understand why Cadsuane and Moiraine freak out about balefire, but it won’t unravel the world to use it just once on each of the Forsaken. And Rand’s right. It’s the only way to defeat them for good.
-Cadsuane can see a darkness forming around Rand.
-And Rand banishes Cadsuane and is super creepy in the process. There’s a “deep darkness emanating from al’Thor, warping the air”

    Chapter 24:
-Gawyn is super arrogant and thinks that Bryne should just jump to do whatever he says since he’s First Prince of the Sword. :lol
-Bryne puts Gawyn in his place and it’s wonderful. :D “The boy I trained would never have pulled a childish stunt like that one to get my attention.” Seriously. :| He tells Gawyn that he shouldn’t just try to bully his way into getting what he wants, even though he’s really skilled at fighting.
-Gawyn has sense enough to realize that Bryne’s right. :p
-Bryne’s drinking tea that he hates because Siuan says it’ll improve his health. :giggle
-Bryne also tries to talk some sense into Gawyn about his mother… which doesn’t totally work. Though I get it’s hard to believe that your mom was controlled by one of the Forsaken. :cheese
-Shemerin fled the Tower and is trying to work doing laundry in Bryne’s camp. :blink

    Chapter 25:
-It was part of Halima’s plan to have Egwene raised as Amyrlin.
-In the Age of Legends dream ter’angreal were called sleepweavers.
-Sheriam uses “Darkness above!” as an excalamation.

    Chapter 26:
-Aviendha accepts herself as an equal to the Wise Ones.
-It was Aviendha who raised the alarm when Semirhage collared Rand.
-Aviendha finally declares herself as equal to the Wise Ones. She rejects their punishments and tells them she’s ready to be one of them. Finally! :joy :joy
-The Wise Ones notice how weird the Aes Sedai way is, with those weak in the Power deferring so much to those stronger in the Power, and have renewed pride in their way of doing things as a result. Yes, the Aiel way is much better.
-The Wise Ones tell Aviendha that punishments only have power if you accept them (such as with Shemerin accepting her demotion to Accepted).
-Aviendha is grateful to Min for making her angry enough to go to the Wise Ones.
-Sevanna is the closest person that Amys can remember who declared herself ready to be a Wise One too soon. Most apprentices have more sense than that.
-Romanda is one of the few people (at least according to her) who realizes how sneaky Siuan is and doesn’t underestimate her.
-The cockroaches that invade Romanda’s tent are from Shara.
