Hello all,

I'm looking to hire three temporary (~3-6mo) volunteers to help create and implement an initiative for increasing membership retention: Tarmon Gai'don TarMem Guide'on, the TarValon Membership Guide! (pet name subject to change, depending on how many eye-rolls it gets) (but I really want to keep it and I'm not even sorry)

About the TMG:

The TarValon.Net Membership Guide will be a way to connect current members with newbies who join our forums by matching them via country, language, or common interest. Current members who are a 'match' for a new member will be PMed; it is up to the current member to reach out to the new member. This means that newbies don't have to be nervous about 'cold calls' that may not be returned -- and current members will be able to choose to whom they forge contacts, depending on personal preference and availability.

Position description:

This position is a volunteer position that will involve work in areas such as:
  • Initial project design -- brainstorming, discussion, etc.
  • Project pre-launch -- testing survey systems, etc.
  • Implementation of project -- launch and distribution of survey to all members, acting as information point, etc.
  • Project closure -- collection and processing of data, reflection on project, etc.
This position will include access to the Welcoming Committee forum and include cooperation with all members involved in it.

Requirements:
  • You must be a full member (rank Citizen or higher);
  • Be enthusiastic and creative -- you'll be helping shape a new initiative!;
  • Be willing to PM a lot of people -- you'll be my right-hand men and women for distribution of the initiative to all areas of the site, even the darkest ones. Yes, even MDD. You'll also be in the front lines for answering questions and bringing suggestions, concerns, and even compliments back to the Welcoming Committee forum;
  • Be committed to the position for its duration. I know RL happens and none of us has Foretelling as a Talent, but I'll be depending on you guys, especially during the implementation section of the project. Please don't volunteer if
Preferences:
Preference may be given to:
  • Junior Members, especially those who have not yet completed a contribution for raising; this will count for it.
  • Members who have wanted to get involved in TarValon.Net but haven't figured out where to start, regardless of membership level.
However, if you're interested, please apply regardless of membership level and experience at the site -- in the end, I'm looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic team that will help this project start with a bang!

How to Apply:
Please send an email to mayor@tarvalon.net with the title "APPLICATION -- TMG -- <YOUR BOARD NAME>" and a brief description of your interest in the project and any relevant details and experiences.

Post date: July 20
Applications due: August 3 (2 weeks from posting)
Announcement and position start: August 6

Is this supposed to be an example of not being able to finish the project? :giggle

You know it's a good pun when someone groans.
You know it's a great pun when someone says "get out" or "you should be ashamed of yourself."

I think you missed part of a sentence, there. :p

Also, as a lover of puns, that is an extremely awesome name!

I might be interested! What is the predicted time commitment per week? I do have some things coming up, so this helps me decide if I'm a good candidate.

You have one week left to send in your applications!

The planning phase will be low but regular commitment -- in a perfect world, I'd like people to spend about 10-20 minutes a day just contributing to discussion and organization; that being said, any regular activity is fine, as long as you're present. During the implementation phase, it will be higher; however, I don't expect more than 5hrs/week for about two weeks, and I'm fine with someone taking more time to get the job done (e.g. three, four weeks), as long as they are dependable and get it done :) Project closure will return to low time, regular commitment.
