Wow, hand sewn! I like handsewing for finishing, but have never done it for long seams. Did you follow a pattern?

Pardon the extremely terrible picture where I had just thrown this on and not situated it properly, but a few years ago I made a Brown Aes Sedai dress. I tried to make it somewhat in keeping with an earlyish Italian Renaissance style, but simple and practical which I thought would fit what a Brown would wear.

Hand sewn, @Dar'Jen Ab Owain !? :eek That's amazing. And @Leira Galene I love that style of dress. It looks exactly what I'd expect.

I had my mother make me a dress for Anni a few years ago (my sewing skills are actually nonexistent). She followed a pattern from some LotR inspired dresses that we found on sale one. :lol

    Leira, that red fabric! /swoon

Satara, I think I have that pattern! The LoTR-ish patterns are so wonderfully versatile for this sort of thing.

Here is my Sevanna costume. One of the most fun costumes ever to wear! This was supposed to be way easier than it actually was. I used a fairly thin wiggly silk for the top so I had to hand-sew a lot of it to make it behave.

It turns out it's actually a lot more difficult than you think to have a very-exposed bosom (hello push up bra) but also entirely cover it in jewelry. Most necklaces are of similar lengths, so I actually had to really go digging to find enough that hit in different places. I think it still doesn't read as enough jewelry for Sevanna, but I would need more necklaces of weird lengths!

The goal was to hit an between state of her dressing as a Wise One (plain brown cotton skirt, white cotton shirt, hair kerchief, shawl) and full on Wetlander (because that wouldn't be distinctive as Sevanna). So all the materials are silk, but in Aiel colors.

    That is GORGEOUS.

Also I really like your take on Sevanna Melearlin Sedai! You definitely captured her flamboyance!

My Novice Dress bodice was loosely based on Renaissance bodice pattern, but I left the sleeves loose at the wrist. I then gathered the skirt into a waistband, but left it open in the front so that the garment could be put on and then buttoned closed in the front. It was a first attempt.

I'm loving the designs everyone is sharing.

Melele's costumes are amazing and I want to see but alas, I cannot. :(

I have no costumes to display (that I can fit in currently, anyway) just a healthy love of cosplay, so l'll just sit here and admire. :clap
