Thanks all!! @Laralelle Susandrea This is what I was making when I mentioned sewing while drinking back in early Mar.
So, I have three sewn shawls and two crocheted shawls. Unfortunately I don't have pictures at the moment of the crocheted ones. My first shawl was made by Ninya and given to me upon my live Raising at Michigan Anni. Spoiler The second was made by me. Spoiler And the third was made by me, after seeing the shawl Rhed was wearing before being Raised Amyrlin and I decided I NEEDED a pretty rectangular shawl as well. Spoiler
If I had known what a talented seamstress you are there is exactly zero chance I wouldn't have died inside sending that to you. I am in the middle of listening to WoT audio books while I do puzzles, and I really want to make myself a new shawl. The only one I currently own (I think) is the raising shawl Tree (?) made me. I think I gave all my blue ones away and I still haven't gotten around to making a green one.
I could have gotten a rough edged piece of fleece for my raising and I'd always cherish it for that reason, regardless of my own skills. I didn't because Cassie made me a beautiful shawl and as soon as I get over my image illiteracy with the forums, I'll get a picture up in here.
https://imgur.com/a/VpiME3d I am having issues - my old Gray shawl can be seen above. Assembled by me, sewn together by Magzs mom.
I'm knitting a crescent shawl now, so they definitely exist with plenty of patterns. Not sure on circulars though.
Ohhh me too I would like to see that! I bet it would lay so nicely. Has anyone ever hijacked a regular scarf, like a pashmina, and sewn on a flame and called it a day? I regularly consider this but I had never followed through.
Pashminas often have that tapestry, viney embroidery look too so I think it would be great. You could even refringe it if you wanted to.
I used a scarf like that for some photos my sister and some friends I did the other week. Spoiler We didn't put a flame on the back, since we weren't planning on taking any shots from behind, but I enjoyed the look of having a rectangular, textured shawl. One of these days I want to find a crochet pattern for a half-circle or round scarf, though.
My one shawl I got for $10 on a cruise ship. It is sheer and has beaded vines on it. I slapped on a flame and boom shawl. Still the only one I've ever "made" for myself!
