I really need to get around to making a blue shawl from scratch.

Right now what I have is a very non-canon MDD shawl? :lol It's silver with blue fringe, as the MDD colors are silver and blue.

The fringe was knotted by hand. I have a personal preference for fringe done this way compared to the usual chainette fringe you can buy in a store.

I really hope this works, please let me know if you cant see the photos. It's, in my mind, a "traditional" Blue shawl, in that it's a shawl that's, well, Blue. Still need to add fringe to it. I do have a couple more shawls in the works. It's one that I knitted myself, for myself.

What material do you use to make the shawl?
I can crochet but I've never used a sewing machine to make anything that big.

Most non-stretch fabric would work. I've seen more casual ones in cotton or linen, a lot of us go with fancy brocades (usually polyester, although silk is pretty!) to mimic embroidery as shawls are described to have vines embroidered on them.

I may or may not have been very intoxicated at the time, as well as overjoyed at just how cool the shawl turned out to be :lol

The shawl exterior is made out of satin and the interior is a patterned linen.

This. There's usually two types of shawl. Non-stretch, more formal types, and then the knit or crochet, more casual type. The fringe can be bought spooled the same way you'd buy lace or ribbon. Same with the outline for the Flame. It's just braided trim that can be sewn on, or glued, even.

Here's mine! I made it earlier this year and then Anni got cancelled so I never finished it (just needs the flame on the back). It was my first time making a shawl. :)
