Just finished watching it with my fiance (who hasn't read past the first book), so here are some rambling thoughts.

Absolutely loved the chemistry between Lan & Nynaeve, its actually better than in the books as I always thought romance was not one of Jordan's strengths. I cackled at the green aes sedai walked off with her warders and my fiance is all - no, you are not to be a green!

Every second of Thom screen time is perfection. I'm in love with him now.

Speaking of, I always had a little crush on Logain when I was younger. However, the actor is not quite as handsome as I pictured yet I admit his voice is excellent and I can't deny he has gravitas so will be interested to see how he develops on screen. Meanwhile, Liandra has never left any doubt that shes on the wrong side of history which is anything but subtle but that's the intent I suppose.

Overall, loved it. Feel like each episode is getting better and better and I am sure I will re-watch it later this week.

I was so afraid it was Mat that killed the family until I saw the Fade....even then I had doubts because one of the bodies appeared to be darkened like what the ruby daggar does to bodies....I'll have to watch again.
I did love when Egwene asked if they were sure they hadn't found the song while watching everyone dance!
I actually really liked the parts with Logain....when he spared the King he had a very 'Jesus' feel to him, like he truly believes he is to save the world.

I have a secret glee that I know the truth about the who the Dragon is when all the non-book readers don't. I've read these books so long that I don't ever remember wondering who it was, I think I knew even from the first reading....but the way they are portraying it that there are five possibilities is intriguing!

While I've heard that the blackness around Logain's weaves is a manifestation of the taint, I'd be happy if it wasn't for this reason:
Cuendillar and the ancient symbol of the Aes Sedai
When a woman creates Cuendillar it's always white, when a male creates it it's always black.

By them depicting the One Power as White (Saidar) and Black (Saidin) it would explain why the Seven Seals, and the ancient symbol of the Aes Sedai are Black and White

Seconding everything already said here and adding one interesting tidbit: Ila's story about her daughter being captured by bandits was extremely similar to the story of the first maiden of the spear, right up until she chose not to take up the weapon. A very nice parallel.

You're right, Kran, I've just read that part, and it gave me flashbacks to that scene too... It is especially neat because the Tuatha'an are part of that history as well, though they probably don't know it...

Agree with everyone here :pleased-1: Great episode!

A question, the 2 people talking to Logain, is that one of his former life or?

I think it's either the way his version of the madness manifests, or else I'm wondering if it's two Forsaken actively working to corrupt him and spread chaos.

In the books I think it's Ishamael who says he whispered in the minds of various False Dragons through the ages, and Logain did say he heard all of the Dragons of the ages....maybe it's whispers that are just lumped in and blamed on the madness.

I always had Logain as blonde in my head for some reason

and Liandrin dark-haired too.

flipped both of them for me for the show.

I just noticed Egwene is Australian too, thought I picked up on her being aboriginal. Good to see.

I didn't notice the clean blade. I was focused on Mat's face and looking for signs of the corruption and of blood splatter. It would have been a terrible change to have Mat murdering people for no reason, IMO

While I'm certain Mat didn't kill anyone, I'm not so sure that the dagger would remain bloody for long after cutting someone
Blood is viscous, and sticks to metal unless you clean it off. A knife holds blood, and it would dry on the blade instead of just dripping off. They put in the effort to have Dana pulsing blood with her heartbeat as she died, so they probably wouldn’t show a miraculously clean blade.

That isn't a normal dagger though, so I think it would be possible that the darkness would just consume any blood on it. But it is a moot point, since Mat most likely didn't kill any of the people there...

Around the fires and then in the battle scene is a petite Green and 2 warders. I can’t seem to find a role assignment for this actor. If I’m overlooking it, could someone please enlighten me?

Otherwise, I’ll keep hoping it’ll eventually be revealed to be Myrelle. :shifty
