    Agreed. When you work in a high trauma job (courts system comes to mind) everyone dumps on you, and then you need to be able to dump out, too. That makes a lot of sense.

    This is brilliant, thanks for sharing it. I work in the law, which involves - like the military - a very hierarchical system. I have always known that you can't "whinge upstream", which is basically the same as "dumping in". If you are having a personal crisis at work, you don't cry to your juniors (foot soldiers have no idea what to do if they see the general crying), and if you dislike something about the firm, you don't whinge about it to the juniors. It becomes more difficult (and life sometimes more lonely) as I get more senior, but then networks outside the firm really help. I love this article as a guide to good behaviour in life, thanks again.
