I have also been reading these books since I was 12 (27 now) and I have definitely noticed a chance in how I relate to some of the characters. When I was younger, I could not stand Faile, and she made me hate Perrin, but now, while I still get irritated with them, I have more patience than I did at first. I also see now how she changed after her kidnapping. Even after all these years, I still pick up on things that I never noticed before, especially in the later books. Mat is still my favorite, but I have also warmed up to the women in the series a great deal. I still want to smack some of them upside their heads and make them talk to each other, because so many things could have been avoided had people just talked to each other; a lot of bad things happen because someone only got half the story. I still laugh everytime one of the boys says that the other two have more experience with women.

I am currently on book 7 of my reread. I have done several of these over the years when some of the new books have come out, but this time around I am shocked at my reaction to things. I still cant stand Faile. That didnt change at least. It is just how frustrating it is that they just wont talk with each other....if they had only taken the time to actually talk fewer people would have died. There are other little instances that are rubbing me wrong on this read. Oh well, I shall continue in my goal to finish this before the last one arrives....which is sadness and joy mixed into one.

I feel sad for admitting it. I'm on my 4th re-read. Currently finishing Book 10.

Oh, how in the light can anyone not think that Egwene is the perfect woman!

I do notice that I tend to like Perrin/Faile less than I did, but Egwene's rise and her storyline enthralls me every time.

Hard not to like Loyal as well. Anything Mat makes me read with a renewed vigor as he is like Han Solo without the outerspace stuff.

Every reread, I laugh more and more about the fallability of the forsaken. They shoot themselves in the feet at every opportunity.

And the touching story of the Kin. Glad to see their backbone growth!

I am also re-reading in preparation for AMoL. I forget what re-read this is... At least 5th, as I had to re-read before books 10-13. I'm fairly sure I read at least as far as Lord of Chaos purely for pleasure a few times as well, before I was distracted by something else. What I found is that I was able to skim large chunks in books 1-7. Whilst this obviously removes some of the pleasure, my main reason for re-reading is so that I know "who is who and what's happening", and my memory of the first 7 (maybe 8) books is good enough that sometimes I do just skim a page :embarassed:. I know that certainly from KoD onwards, I'll have to read more carefully.

I did attempt using a "Summary" (quite possibly the Tor one) before um... I think it was TGS, and I felt that I was just as well reading the books themselves.
