Chapter 29:
-We have Mat seeing ghosts… and it’s never brought up again. :cheeseeni: okkkk….
-And Egeanin’s been stabbed by Renna. Not really surprising that the sul’dam aren’t trustworthy. Renna desperately wants to just go back to being a regular sul’dam without anyone knowing her secret… which of course results in Egeanin telling Tuon and Selucia the secret.
-Mat realizes that this means that Tuon can learn to channel.
-Juilin suggests leaving Tuon and Selucia to placate the Seancha as they run. Mat, though, wants Tuon with him. And it probably woudn’t work anyway. Tuon agrees with Mat taking them with him.
-Mat orders Renna’s death. He feels terrible, but he really didn’t have a choice.
-Tuon and Mat’s relationship is definitely progressing. Tuon’s wearing the rosebuds. :)
-.. She’s still playing with him, though, telling him that he’s not under her protection like Master Luca is.

Chapter 30:
-Is Halima specifically killing people who will help with Egwene’s plans for turning the chains into cuendillar? Or is it just bad timing? Why is Halima killing Aes Sedai? Just to cause chaos?
-Accepted don’t respect Theodrin’s shawl, even being openly mocking. :rolleyes I’m surprised Egwene didn’t send her to the Mistress of Novices for such blatant disrespect to an Aes Sedai
-Romanda’s investigating something in Cairhien that’s of specific interest to Yellow Sisters. Is this referring to the Healing of Stilling?
-Poor Theodrin having to follow Romanda around. :rolleyes
-Nicole runs away and ends up betraying Egwene’s plan... and the other novices actually covered it up because they really just wanted her to leave.
-Annoyingly, the only person who really believed in Egwene’s Talent is dead. :desk
-Myrelle and Maigain really don’t like each other and I can’t figure out why… Maigan is in Lelaine’s faction, but Myrelle doesn’t seem to be in either faction. :cheeseeni:
-I like Egwene confusing Bela by riding horribly to imitate Siuan. :rofl
-Gahh, Egwene… I understand her wanting to go considering how insanely better at the weave she is than everyone else, but she’s the Amyrlin Seat. She really shouldn’t be risking herself this way.
-So… As has been said before, I really don’t see how turning the chains to cuendillar stops anything. I mean, cuendillar won’t make it heavier. I guess we’re supposed to assume that the chain links were fused together as part of the transmutation process???

Epilogue:
-And Rand is going to meet with ‘the Daughter of the Nine Moons’, a meeting arranged by a darkfriend. Yeah… not suspicious at all.
-The quote at the end of the book:
We rode on the winds of the rising storm,
We ran to the sounds of the thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,
and tore the world asunder.
It’s attributed to the Dragon Reborn of the Third Age... so Rand al'Thor.

Halima kills off people who knew the Aes Sedai that she used as a cover story. Don't remember her name atm :look:

And really, if Egwene had inverted the weave and hidden her ability she would have gotten away easily. But then, if she hadn't been captured the Tower would most likely not have been united again :look: So it was obviously for Plot reasons ;)
And yes, I think the idea is that the weave fused the chain together. It is mentioned in the next book that the chain now sticks out like a bar, and the part that is not changed still falls down.

Halima is killing Cabriana Mercedes' friends ... Semirhage interrogated (distilled) Cabriana in an earlier book. So Halima is killing any Aes Sedai who poses a thread to exposing her cover.

As to Rand's meeting arranged by a darkfriend, do you mean Suroth or another darkfriend?

Rand is meeting Semirhage. Though of course we don't know that at the end of this book, but we suspect a trap since we know the Daughter of the Nine Moons are busy being kidnapped/being married atm :p

But she was a novice. Like Bode, wouldn't she only have been told if she had actually come down to the river, like they did with Bode?

I don't know... I got that information from the Companion, though. It says:
She ran away from the rebels to the White Tower in hopes of being taught faster; she was forced to tell everything she knew about the rebels, which was how Egwene and Leane were ambushed and captured.

Maybe Egwene had told Nicola about her plans and then worries that that's why Nicola ran away, so she decides not to tell Bode just in case?

I zoomed through the last half of this book because I let myself off the hook for taking notes.

Egwene is totally awesome and I love every chapter from her POV.

I'm ready to be done with Faile.

I also love Mat and how he courts Selucia to get to Tuon, and I love Tuon's acknowledgment of his efforts.
