Hi all! After more than 5 years of hardcore lurking, I recently re-read WoT and was inspired to rejoin the living here on the site. I've changed my name to Cosima, but some of you probably remember me by my old name, Morgana Le'Far. :)

It's been so long that I figure I might as well answer the standard intro questions!

1. My favorite character when I was 12, the first time I read Wheel of Time, was Aviendha. Now that I'm 26, I identify most strongly with Nynaeve.

2. I believe I was introduced to TarValon.Net by Ninya in... 2002 or 2003, maybe? We knew each other through a different WoT roleplaying site.

3. I'm currently a grad student working on getting my Master's in Library Science. I'm also a freelance writer and photographer.

4. Right now, my absolute favorite book is The Bone People by Keri Hulme.

Hi! :)

Dreia - Yes! But, I actually started using Cosima as a pseudonym after reading Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver. I just got lucky that my favorite character on Orphan Black also shares the name. ;)

Hello, Cosima! :joy Welcome back.

Library Science, you say? :look: That sounds a little bit like something my university has to offer, that sort of... baffled me all these four years. I've only seen snippets of what they do, and it wasn't enough to form a proper picture. Care to help by telling me what it is that it involves? :pleased-1:

Sure! My program is really a mix of library and information science, so it covers a lot of different areas, but at its core I think of it as the study of how information is organized, managed, and used (including ethical issues, technological issues, etc). There are a lot of different directions you can take that depending on what you specialize in, from library administration, to cataloging, to working in an archive or special collection, to helping people with research, to being a systems analyst or IT specialist. Personally, I'm planning to concentrate on archives and records management, with the hopes of one day working in preservation. I'm super interested in questions of how we're going to appraise, archive, and provide access to information from the digital age for future generations, given that there's so much of it! I'm also interested in just about every other aspect of LIS, from public libraries to database management, so I'm hoping I'll land somewhere interesting regardless. Also, the more I learn about the field, the more I'm convinced that librarians are secret superheroes. :cheeseeni:

Greetings Cosima Sedai :) How can you be Blue Ajah when you're studying to be Brown Ajah in RL :p ? In any case, hope you enjoy your return to Tar Valon!

Maleshub - I may have a significant brown stripe, but I'm blue through and through. :blue Just wait 'til you argue with me about something I'm passionate about, or find yourself on the receiving end of one of my plots. ;)

Lol, I don't look forward to the latter; but would probably enjoy the former! What are you passionate about that you want to argue over?

Ah, yes. I do not know much about the ins and outs of it specifically, but the description of it sounds very familiar. That is quite a great thing to be doing. :D We need more things preserved. :shifty The mere thought of everything that was just... lost. :desk

Haha, well, I don't necessarily want to argue about anything (I promised myself not to even go in CE this time around :look:), but I have a lot of causes that I feel strongly about. Librarianship is actually a good example! In addition to books and systems and keeping things organized and all that, librarians have also historically taken a really strong stand for privacy rights, civil liberties, and freedom of information. Check out the ALA's Freedom to Read statement for proof! Plus, if you think about it, public libraries are one of the only places in our society where you don't have to pay any money to participate -- that's pretty radical in this day and age. :)
