Just wanted to say thanks to everyone.who supported the save the bridge foundation! While it looks like the bridge will be going at the end of Aug, a permanant forum LIKE it as not been ruled out! And the amount of support for it is very heartening, so, what I'm going to do instead of adding it to the fundraiser, since I don't want to cause more problems and take away from it, I will work on getting a petition ready for a forum like it where businesses and club can thrive. If you want to help with this pm me and in the meantime we can roleplay saving the bridge still! The prizes on offer I will save for a contest regarding this after the fundraiser is over and I will take into account you all who stepped up in these few days! I love you guys and appreciate it.

In the meantime let's enjoy the bridge to its fullest and please keep donating to the summer fundraiser! That cause is super worthy as we wouldn't have a place at all without the whole tv.net team that keeps everything running every year! Thank you guys and I will keep you updated on the progress of the petition!

Honestly, if you want to write a proposal or petition, I would suggest contacting the admins directly instead of posting it all over the boards and blindsiding them with it. They do quite a bit of work already, and they're more than happy to review proposals. But, when they are confronted with something like this publicly, it puts them in a difficult position. When we wanted a sports discussion forum, we simply submitted an email to the Keeper and proved that a forum would be a good idea because there were a significant number of sports related threads in General and elsewhere. In the end, following proper channels did get us a sports forum. I'd think something similar would be well-received.

I don't see anything wrong with gauging interest publicly and talking to people in the forums before emailing the admins, though.

I think this is the kind of situation that the Hall's restructure was specifically designed to accomplish. :P Use it!

I agree, but it's also worth noting that the restructure was announced about a month after this thread was initially posted. But that's certainly a good framework to utilize going forward with this and similar proposals
