The fact you recall their names....
Yeah that sums that up
I just started reading this based on this thread.
Let us know what you think!!
Have I ever mentioned that I the Arkon?
I really loved the opening scene where Bellusdeo and the Emperor were... discussing living arrangements... and it wakes Kaylin up so where does she go? To hang out wither her bro, the Arkon. I also loved the apartment hunting with Bellusdeo and Emmerian! That was fantastic!
I'm about halfway through Flame now, and loving it!
Yay on starting the series!!
And flame is an awesome book
Lots of stuff goes on
I was reading Flame
where they learn the Barrani ancestors are awake and everyone's freaking out
and decided I should reread Kaylin's first introduction to those individuals back in Cast in Shadow... So now I've reread Shadow again. Is good book. It's really interesting to see how it feels like Kaylin isn't growing up or learning much, but there's actually a HUGE difference in her maturity between Shadow and Flame! That was really interesting to see!
On potential romance...
Do you think Kaylin could actually have a relationship with Severn? Or even with Nightshade? It seems like Severn's ability to hear her thoughts but block his own since he has her name but he has no name to likewise gift, it seems like that would be a problem for any future relationship. Sometimes in a relationship you need to ability to think through your frustration so you can feel what you're feeling, but you don't want to actually say it to the person. With Kaylin/Severn, this could be a problem.
And then Kaylin/Nightshade. In theory she could control him with his name, and he could change her by way of the Erenne mark. She's getting better at blocking her thoughts from him, but again, she could, in theory, force her way into his mind any time she wanted to. And who knows the extent of power the Erenne mark gives Nightshade.
These both seem kinda like deal breakers for any type of relationship with either of them.
Love, love, loved the ending of Flame. On to Honor!
Told you, you’d like it
I am caught up
*waits.... taps foot..... waits.... eyes landa...*
I blame the internet!
I totally had a dream about the Arkon last night. No, not *that* kind of dream. We were making lunch and doing other entirely mundane things. It was a lovely dream. I the Arkon.
Obviously you didn’t touch anything...
Or else lunch might have turned out differently
*burns to a crisp*
He actually let me do all the food prep, but he did critique my methods in suitably Arkonly ways. Hehe
I read like 4 more paragraphs last night! And then I fell asleep. This is officially my current-read again though! Unfortunately I have very little time at the moment, but at least I'm not reading something else entirely, yeah?
I’ve been reading other books..
But I might start the sun sword books soon
"In the good news department: Mira is re-issuing Cast in Shadow and Cast in Courtlight, to coincide with the release of Cast in Deception. They’ll be in trade paperback, with slightly updated covers (fonts, name placement, things like that)." https://michellesagara.com/cover-cast-deception/
Those two being the smaller size drives me crazy every time I look at my bookshelf!
I think this is a plot to make us buy them again.... to made the ocd book shelve people buy it again that is
There are much worse things to spend money on! Considering I now own most of the books in physical, ebook, and audiobook, I don't think I have much standing to complain about there being another format for a couple of the books.
I really love the cover of Deception. It just might be the perfect cover.
I dunno.... sometimes covers can be deceptive
