It's that time of year again when we hold our annual Maintaining The Tower Fundraiser. This is the one time, all year, where we ask you- the members of this fantastic community- to chip in what you can to keep us going strong. We've had a stellar year since last summer when we held our Bacon vs. Chocolate Battle and now is the time we do it all over again. I must admit some excitement now as I announce our 2014 Maintaining The Tower Fundraiser Against Humanity!
Thats right folks, this year we are creating our own TarValon.Net Expansion Deck for Cards Against Humanity! The cards and the size of the deck... that is up to you! Read on for all the juicy details!
Why Donate? Whether you have donated before or if this is the first time that you are donating, it's good to know where your money goes. Our fantastic CFO, Ubahsur Kindellaer has done a wonderful job over the past several months of keeping everyone informed about the cost's associated with keeping this community operational. Our server, our RL events, our annual awards, the Robert Jordan Memorial Scholarship, these fantastic vBulliten boards- they're all funded by you. The membership. Anyone who still remembers our days on EZBoards can attest to how far we've come! Our growth and the advancements that have made this community so wonderful has always been funded 100% by our membership. I don't want to presume to steal her thunder so I'll point you all to the Executive Blog for her recent entries regarding our sites expenses. (Plus, if you're not familiar with the Executive Blog, this is a great time to catch up!)
We offer a fantastic service, a community of like-minded Wheel of Time fans who establish friendships, make connections, and even families through an absolutely free membership with TarValon.Net. We have never had advertisements on our boards and we have never charged a fee for any sort of premium service. It is our annual Maintaining the Tower fundraiser that keeps us not just alive, but indeed ad-free and thriving! Now is the time to think about what this service and community is really worth, and what you are able to contribute to keep it growing. Any amount helps and is invaluable to us! Plus, any donation above $5 USD will get you entered to win some really awesome prizes, read on!
Based on our foreseeable needs we have set our annual Maintaining the Tower fundraising goal at $3,500 USD. This should be a very attainable goal and it is my belief that as a community we should be easily able to meet this goal and surpass it! Read on for more information on stretch goals, and added prizes to be unlocked during our Fundraiser Against Humanity, running from now, July 18th to [STRIKE]August 17th, 2014[/STRIKE] August 24th! (Extended!)
How Do I Donate? Well, I'm glad you asked! Big or small, any donated amount is truly appreciated and here is the details on how you can donate!
There are two ways for you to donate: online via paypal or using the regular old mail by cheque or money order.

Why do we ask who you are? In addition to tracking our donors annually (as seen in our annual reports), there are also those nifty prizes that we hand out! If you wish to remain anonymous but still want to participate just specify in your donation note, and we will happily hide your good deed!
Wait, if I'm not in the US, can I donate in another currency like last year? You betcha! We'll be tracking the totals just in US Dollars this year, to make things clean and simple, but if you're interested in donating in pounds, euros, whatever... please feel free! We'll appreciate your donation in any currency!
Prizes. Well it wouldn't be a Fundraiser Against Humanity without a deck of cards poking good-humored fun at one another, as well as our favorite characters from Randland! So we are creating a deck.

Have a great answer to throw down for the "Antagonizing Tree Can earn you ___________."? :arch I can't wait to see it!
Do you agree with me that there should be a "She Comes! She Comes! She Comes!" card!? C'mon, how do you not want that card!?

PLUS! Your donations over $5 USD will get you entered into a drawing for a physical deck of cards, ready for play at your next party!
In addition to a physical printed deck of cards, our grand prize winner (selected by a random drawing) will receive a full copy of the original Cards Against Humanity game, and a t-shirt courtesy of our friends at Ta'veren Tees!
All prizes will be shipped sometime in the Fall of 2014, and the downloadable expansion deck will be made available to the community shortly thereafter! This will allow the join collaboration between the Department of Community Outreach and the Department of Marketing to take in all your suggestions (keep reading, I'm full of surprises!) and create this amazing product!
Added bonus! All members are welcome to join us in the creation of our Expansion Deck! Thats right- you! If you have an idea for a card- or many ideas for many cards- we want to hear them!

So hey, Tree!? What's going on with the Avendesora Tree to celebrate all our donors?
This was an immense project that we have altered a tiny bit to better suit the community, but that should be hitting the library and member's Who's Who pages very soon! As in- during this fundraiser! As with every year, any donation of $5 USD or more will earn you either an Avendesora Donor's Leaf for our tree, or a color upgrade to your existing leaf! I'm super excited that we are at long last ready to unveil these leafs and get them in the library. Our donors are one of the critical pieces that have kept this site going for these past many years and celebrating them is something I believe all of us will be excited to see! In fact, I'm so excited I'm even going to give you all a sneak peek!

- If we raise $3500 as a community we will release a deck of 75 cards!
- If we raise $5000 as a community we will release a deck of 100 cards!

PLUS! Your donations over $5 USD will get you entered into a drawing for a physical deck of cards, ready for play at your next party!
- If we raise $2000 as a community, 3 lucky winners will receive a printed deck of cards to play with, in addition to our one, grand-prize winner.

- Suggestions should fit in the following topics:
- Wheel of Time/Randland (i.e.: Rand's Butt Smell, Thom's favorite thing to juggle is _____, etc...)
- TarValon.Net (i.e.: Ivanor's Meat, Tree Missed Anni due to an unfortunate incident involving ____ and _____., Like their single brain cell, all the boys of SDS also share _____., etc...)
- The greater Wheel of Time Community (i.e.: Brandon Sanderson, Robert Jordan's Ancient PC, etc....)
- Members who are donating will be given a higher priority- but a donation does NOT guarantee the creation of your card.
- Members who are not donating but have really funny submissions will still be given priority.
- Card suggestions received that are believed to be of a malicious nature will not be considered- we're friends after all!
- All cards submitted and considered that are about or mention another member, will be approved by that member before being created.
