Id often heard Alera called pokemon and romans but its the vaguest most tenuous link to pokemon. The rome part is much more so.

No idea about Pokemon as I've no clue about, but the Roman part is pretty clear.

So I am a supernerd of the Dresden Files and Jim has said in many interviews that he is purposefully powering dresden up at a certain rate to be able to deal with the bad guys he is facing. You also have to understand we are seeing everything from HARRYS point of view so often it is not as bad or as good as we think it is and harry doesn't always know what he thinks he does.

Does anyone have any crazy fan theories they want to discuss? I know the going one right now in the groups I am in is that Murphy has been evil since day one and she is actually lucifer. Anyone else got anything?

OK, in waiting for the reply from Calen, here's the only two things which immediately spring to mind (in spoilers as I can't remember which book they're from)

Initially when Dresden views Murphy with his Sight (I think when he's helping Micky Malone), he sees her as a pure, unsullied angel. A few books later (when he, Murph and Kincaid are going after Mavra's scourge) he Sees her again, and notices stains etc on her robe, she's no longer the gleaming white figure. And then there's the whole thing with the Sword and her misusing it.

However, that's thin as all get out and I'd not be wanting to try and hang any real argument on those two points :look I'd really be interested to hear what this crazy theory is based on, because, really.... it's crazy :lol

Yeah. If Murphy were evil from the beginning,

she would never have been allowed to pick up one of the holy swords in the first place. The books are pretty clear that the only way the swords can fall into evil hands are by being misused by their once-good wielders.

@Mathias Vielfrass - I just saw you post about Dresden in another thread and didn't want to hijack it to bring you here.

    Welcome to the Dresden bunch!

Thank you! I just started them in March and am reading Dead Beat right now. I sort of read them like candy without looking for any hidden or deep meanings.

Dead Beat is soooo good! One of my favorites in the series!

(And yeah, they're kind of fluffy reads for me, too - I get really into the world, but I don't do crazy literary dissection!)

So brief cases is a short story compilation plus you get to see Harry at the zoo with his daughter Maggie. Oh and the book came out on the fifth of June.

I'll have to track it down!

I read Working for Bigfoot a few weeks back (I'd managed to miss that one somehow!) and enjoyed it.
