Just read Skin Game yesterday, I LOVED it! Ghost Story and Cold Days had felt kinda meh to me, but Skin Game was back to amazingness. :joy

The scene where he's dreaming about being with Murphy, I'm curious if anyone else realized almost immediately that it wasn't going to be real. I thought, no way it's going to be that easy, after a bazillion books of buildup between the two of them!

Waiting for Side Jobs to come out in German in July. And of course waiting for the next after Cold Days.

I dunno, Mab didn't do it for me. My mental version is way more...Mab? :blink I've read this series so many times - all the characters are in my head, and I like them the way they are there rather than outside. I had a very hard time with Harry Potter casting, initially. :| But I digress.

I picked up Skin Game the day it was released, and read it that night. Page 182, I laughed so freaking hard at page 182. :lol I really enjoyed this one, and I still think the series gets better the more it goes on.

I also loved Butters evolution. Him with a Sword? And Bob? It's like a mini-Harry in the making, sans magic.

And Karrin, at the end. Finally!

And meeting Maggie - it read kind of awkward, but it really seemed to work for me. I'd expect it to be awkward, and it was! But at the same time, Maggie herself is vague enough that I'm curious how she develops in books to come. I also wonder if/when Maggie will meet Harry's other progeny. :p The intellect was described as visually looking 12, so even though she's a newborn...siblings, yeah?

Mouse and Mister OP, as always. I love them.

I think we're due for a Blackstaff book soon though, yeah? Or maybe he's reserving that for the whole apocalyptic ending.

My reaction to page 182 was pretty much Murphy's reaction. ^^

I also cackled a lot at Butters turning one of the swords into a lightsaber. He WOULD do that. It's just too perfect.

Oh, and after Goodman Grey was revealed, I now feel like I need to re-read half the book, or at least scan through the dialog. :rolleyes

I'm also glad we got to see more of Maggie and hope she will be in future books. I don't see how she could not be, at this point.

I know what you mean, Megana. I went back through all the dialogue immediately!

FYI for you JCon goers, Bayrd, Sin, and I have already received the stamp of approval for a Dresden Files panel. Come join the merriment and bring your crazy theories!!

Skin game was great, nice twists along the way and way to stick it to the bad guys at the end.

Just finished Skin Game. The series just gets better all the time! And this book had a few things come to conclusion that had been super annoying in the last couple of them - I mean after the Changes.
I loved how the Maggie thing wasn't too complicated, at least not in this book. Also awesome about Butters! And I think I like how Harry + Murphy was handled. Not 100% sure, though. :lol

I've only read through Ghost Story. I need to get my hands on the next two, asap.

Just want to see... Am I the only one who actually liked Donald Morgan, at least after the first book?

Ok so I have a question for those who have read more of the books than me. Does his weird chauvinism/"gallantry" get any better? It's slightly distracting from the story. :p I already noticed he talked about it less in the second book, and I was just wondering if that trend continued, because it always pulls me out of the story. Note that this won't deter me from continuing to read them ^^ but I'm curious.

It stays, but Dresden as a character realises that it's pretty stupid and kind of a character flaw, and it kinda gets overwhelmed by other events. So it does show up from time to time, but it's not super prevalent.

And it definitely gets A LOT better in the books after Changes. Like many other things. But yeah, it was annoying, and another annoying thing in the first books was that everything was described the same way in each and every book. But the series gets a lot better, especially in the later books.

    I liked the book.

I squealed and also went "ouch" when he met Maggie the first time. "Do you want to be my dad?" I squealed LOUDLY right there.

Interesting to note, when you get an email alert and read the forum post right in your email, the spoiler just shows up, with no indication or anything. -_-

Something for me to remember and be cautious about, I guess.

Yeah, isn't that annoying? :grumble I just start deleting notifications for certain TV or book threads when I'm trying to avoid spoilers.

I finished Furies of Calderon and I also think that the furies should be explained more in the next books, because it was annoying not to understand the magic in a book.

The difference between Codex Alera and Dresden Files for me is that I do not feel like I want to read the Dresden books one after the other. I take pause of two or three books in between :cheese
